Are you really calling The Gates Mixed Plate diverse? Sure there are a couple of songs that are different like Harvey Dent(which I love btw), but most of it follows the same topics. And I've mentioned before;Tech has an incredible flow. He can make the most mundane topics sound a little unique. But when he keeps doing the same topics and he uses terrible hooks, his delivery can't save him anymore. I honestly tried to like this album and there were only 3 songs I didn't delete. I don't even consider myself a picky listener

Does Tech not have anything valuable to say unless he's crying and slitting his wrists? Does depression hold all his creativity? If he doesn't want to talk about "darkness" that's fine, there are plenty of other rappers who don't either and they take time to write about interesting topics. Tech always quotes "rap what you know and they will forever feel you" but he seems to think that means he has to rap about every dumb topic that comes to mind. Oh you play your music loud Tech? Yeah write a song about it, make the chorus go "boom boom boom boom, bang bang bang bang".

You guys just make excuses for him knowing damn well that you never say "this is a good CD if you consider that it's for parties" while talking about Gucci Mane or Wacka Flocka. Or how when Lil Wayne put his Young Money crew on his songs you don't say "it's alright because he's putting his city on the map."

You can't compare Tech with those dudes though. despite giving us an album with redundant content and a very mainstream sound he is still is spittin dope shit on this album. He's still lyrical even when he's making music that isn't deep in content. Waka Flaka and Gucci are far from lyrical and barely have any talent at all.

I don't see how you can really be mad at him for making this album. I don't wanna really make excuses for why he put out a mediocre album.. but when you release as many projects as he does in the short amount of time he does you have to expect some of the stuff isn't going to be as great as others. I mean it is after all a collaborative CD that's really just made to tide you over until his solo comes out. And the Last time I checked he just gave us an album mostly everyone loved that was more true to his older material. So even when he gives us shit like this.. it's not like there's no hope for his future projects. I'm sure his next actual solo album will be more creative and diverse.

I totally agree that this could have been a thousand times better, and it's clearly an album made to try and be more mainstream. But I honestly don't blame him for going that route. He said it himself in the xxl article that he's trying to get black people back on his side and this type of album is more likely to do that. He's not exactly alienating his true fans though cause K.O.D and The Lost Scripts certainly stayed true to what the hardcore fans wanted.

Yeah he's not on the same level as Gucci or w/e but with this album how much praise can you really give? "Oh Tech N9ne brilliantly talked about pussy! This Strange Music artist is going against the grain by writing alcohol jingles!"
/sarcasm

I'm not pleased with the album but don't get me wrong, I'm not flipping shit about it either. I guess that's how it sounds like when I give reasons to why I'm not feeling it but I'm not getting ahead of myself and saying that I'm boycotting Strange music for life. I'm just saying I won't spend money on this release.

And it doesn't even appear like we're disagreeing on anything because you yourself said Tech could do better

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you.. it's a sub par album. Definitely his worst, but it isn't god awful or enough to really worry that Tech isn't going to ever make good music again. And I was really directing my last post to everyone in general who's complaining not just you.

Harvey Dent is a good song but too short.
Harvey Dent is catchy, but hes basically saying fuck the people who made me what I am and paid my bills for years, im going to make crappy mainstream music so maybe the black people who never supported me will suddenly like me. Which is the absolute definition of being a sell out.

He's going to alienate his core fanbase that have supported him since he started to please the people who think Wayne is the best rapper alive.

All tech does anymore is talk about sex, women and dumb bullshit. The beats are crap, the hooks are terrible. He went from raw and unique to completely emo.

Kutt Calhoun is starting to follow his lead which is very disappointing since I love most of Kutt's stuff. The rest of the roster is mediocre and doesnt have the impact to captivate fans as Tech once did and carry Strange Music. So as of right now, Big Scoob is probably the best artist signed, and his verses are hit or miss but theyre a shit ton better then anything on this garbage ass album or on Raw & Un-Kutt.

Okay so....

The album sounds lazy almost but I understand that. The guy just made K.O.D. he wants lighter subjects and party-going music so i see what he's aiming for. But, maybe he just misses the mark with a bunch of the songs on here.

It's an average album with some good songs. Jumpin' Jax, Harvey Dent, Oh You Didn't Know, Loud and Need More Angels would make my top 5.
My boy Jay Rock kills it on Paper too, glad to see that collab.

if his next cd is anything like this... im sure his sales will hurt..

tech makes music mainly for cash ? fans give tech n9ne the cash..

so in that way he has a goal to make money right ? so to get that goal he would need to make a brilliant cd ? still following me ? so if tech decides to create music that is NOTHING LIKE HIM at all over and over..why would the fans that have followed him just keep buying his cd ? because his name on it ? there not buying it for the music because the style and everything they loved has gone and changed into somethin different..

thats what i meant by my last comment... i like = normal tech me not like = fruity loop tech

i dont really get how tech could say areola was a joke song/poking fun at the mainstream and then come with this album...areola would fit in perfectly with the rest of the songs on this album.

Ya'll really need to chill the fuck out and remove your tampons...

"Why is Tech leaving the darkness and making this poppy mainstream shit!!!" Because hes trying to get paid and wants to be happy morons. This is just his kick back party album for summertime fun. I dont think he got into this album with the intentions to "go hard". He just needed to get the fuck outa the darkness from KOD. So hes just like fuck it man, I just wanna party, get fucked up and fuck bitches. Just like anyone would, after going through alot of hard times. Which is all this album is.

Stop hatin on Tech for just wanted to party and get fucked up. Like Tech has said numerous times, fuck the people that want him to stay dark ALL of the damn time. He cant and will not do it. Did nobody hear "Last Sad Song"? He doesnt want that shit no more. You guys gettin all butt hurt cuz hes "not trying" on this one, so the fuck what. There are still coo ass songs to slap on here. This aint his solo shit. Rappers make easy going, not too serious shit all the time. Which is what GMP is....

LMAO at people sayin "Tech aint my fav rapper anymore because of this". So the last 10 yrs hes been blessing us with great music is just dismissed because of 1 album that hes not going Tormented/Einstein/Demons on? GTFO

Stop acting like Tech trying to go mainstream just ruined your whole pathetic life. More important shit going on than Tech putting out a soft album. If you dont like it that much, dont fuckin listen and wait for 6's and 7's....

Nobody is hating on Tech for wanting to party, or make party tracks.

People hate this album because it is mediocre. Nobody complained about Everready, which is also mostly party shit.

I said it before, but it was deleted. I don't care what Tech raps about, as long as he brings his A game. He brought his C game to this album, and it shows. The album fucking sucks, end of story.

If Tech wasn't being recognized by the mainstream with his old sound what makes you think he was going to keep going back to the Anghellic days? There is so much more money to be made in the mainstream stop getting mad at Tech for going after what he deserves. All these years of pleasing the underground fans he has, its time for him to go get the money. Time for someone other than Travis to be able to afford a Lambo or Ferrari. The Anghellic days are gone.

Stop comparing everything Tech does to Anghellic. That album is hella old and would not be cool if it were released today. Eveyone would be complaining like why is Tech using these old ass sounding beats. Everyone on here complains about every release in hopes that the next will end up being Anghellic.
That has little to do with the fact that the album is wack as fuck.

The songs, are not good.

aside from being the most commercially acceptable album by tech ever....this album to me really lacks the energy that tech usually brings....it feels thrown together and sloppy...you can usually feel the intensity in every verse by tech party/dark doesnt matter....even his "chas" sounded half assed....i think most of us are disappointed with this album mainly because were used to getting better quality music....when i heard OG i wasnt thrilled but it had a cool concept and the video worked....then whats yo psycho....that song actually shits on the whole album....as a fan i feel a little mislead by how this album panned out.....

Umm.. yeah they are. Countless people are saying shit like "tech only makes party music now" "wow, another song about fuckin bitches"

Give the guy a break honestly. You do realize it's almost completely unheard of for a rapper to release 9 albums and have them all loved by fans. Ask fans of Nas or Jay-Z they'll find mediocre albums in their catalog. countless other rappers too.

Its not about the party music to me, I love his party music, he's made that kind of music (everyone does) his whole career, even Anghellic had party songs. Its about the quality of the music like I've stated many times already before it got deleted. And yes every rapper has an average album or 2, this is Tech's first. Im disappointed by it, but I'm still amped up for All 6's & 7's.

I used to hate Sickology. But after this shit, Sickology is a fucking masterpiece.
I never hated Sickology, but yes it is ALOT better than GMP IMO.
