This board is hilarious.

"The Bay is back! The Bay is back!"

Look everyone, after years of bitching, bullshitting, and whining, the entire bay area went silver.

THE BAY IS BACK!

OH WAIT NAH ITS GONE NOW MIMS STOLE OUR SHINE

When will the bay Be back again?

I cant wait for these type threads...NEXT BAY RAPPER TO GO QUADRUPLE PLATINUM

None of yall and yall fav rappers will EVER be successful.

The Bay never came back...it's been done for years. Like some burnt ass chicken.

So stop hopin and makin threads about seeing your fav rappers on BET and MTV. Even getting there doesnt assure 'victory' or success. It's not gonna happen.

All you immature, uncreative bandwagon kids out there who make or sell beats thinkin you will make a living off it need to stop. Go back to school dumbasses.

The Bay never came in the first place, and it definitely will not come back.

Most of what was said here can be said about the rap industry as a whole.

The music industry is in a transition right now and rap is going to suffer the most. Meaning bay rap is REALLY going to suffer when it comes to mainstream exposure.

As far as people sayin the The bay is back and shit, ur right, "the bay isnt back." We have one arist (E-40) doing it big nationally. People get over excited when they see a bay artist get any kind of exposure cuz its rare. Gettin a lil plug in a song or on T.V. doesnt mean the bay is back but it is a nice step in the right direction.

"None of yall and yall fav rappers will EVER be successful."

E-40s one of my favorite rappers..he became hella successful again after hella people doubted him. How do you know other bay rappers won't beable to do the same. I can't say if the bay's gonna get hella shine, but there's sum good things going in our favor right now, such as people getting major record deals and such...only time will tell if the bay gets it's national shine back, no one like me or you can call that. As long as bay area artists keep steppin their game up, we have a good chance if being up their with NY and Southern mainstream rappers.

So all you immature haters, who just want to talk shit, just give it up and focus on your own lives and not others!

Just because someone says something that is in direct disagreement with what you believe does not (I repeat) DOES NOT make them a "hater". Stop throwin that word around like it means something...

The industry is ALOT different than it was 5 years ago (shit even a year ago).

Being a rapper with a major record deal means NOTHING. It actually means you're LESS likely to have your record come out because records aren't selling like they used to. Bigger financial risk for the major label that signed you means you have to be a sure shot in their eyes before they take that chance on losing millions of dollars on promoting a project that doesn't sell. This is why you see an artist like Young Buck have his album pushed back multiple times. Same thing is happening with Fabolous right now.

Bay rap has ZERO presence in the mainstream except for 40. Let's see what happens with Clyde Carson though - he's the only other cat gettin that industry type push right now.

I was going to type the same thing you was gonna type mayne.
I think 2005 was the bay's strongest year.
but as an artist, we as artist and producers need to step it up musically first then worry about all the other shit. that whats really lacking music right now. people want quality not hype.

what this guy is saying is true, but just wait for ya boy, mistah fab and clyde carson to drop their albums. they'll bring more exposure, just like what e-40 and the pack is doing now.
its a process, a very slow process to gain national exposure. more indie cats need to pump out classic material to get everybody pumped up about rap again, take it back to 95-98

It may actually get to that sooner than later thanks to Don Imus! lmao

I've never seen so much negative media attention directed towards hip hop in my life! Imus says some of the dumbest shit in the history of radio and it's hip hop's fault, lol!!

At least some of the 'talking head' media are trying to hold the labels accountable and aren't just going after the artists like in the past.

Thanks Imus!!

I'm not calling anyone a hater for disagreeing with me. I never said the bay is going to come back. No one can really predict the future of our mainstream presence. I was calling him out for acting like he knows exactly what's going to happen. Your a hater if you sit around and say these people can't do this, you'll never do that, and just comment on people's lives.

To say that being on a major means NOTHING..if your talking about mainstream presence then that's just foolish. Yeah being on a major definertly doesn't mean you'll be big for sure, but your chances at being seen on a national level are waaay bigger then dropping indie albums with barley ne promotion and no connections to mainstream media. There are plenty of problems with major labels, but it's obvious you have a better chance at being nationaly or internationaly if you're on a major

I donno why you used young buck as an example..even tho his shit was pushed back he's doing quiet good off his album release

i feel that, quality is more important before exposure. But if you have good quality music, you still need exposure to do it nationaly (and thats what major deals provide) I'm not obsessed wit seein the bay get exposure, I just want to her good music. But if the bay can do both, then thats even better

and to say people want quality over hype..i wish it was like that, but look at alot of mainstream artists, people buy into hype all the time

he is right. just cuz you signed on a major does not necessarily mean you will blow up or get natinal recognition. it is really up to the individual to make the best out of the situation, because major lables nowadays are not gonna help and groom you into being the superstar an artist wants to be. i would say the last cat who got a big lable push was T.I. and 50 cent, oh and e-40 got a super push for his album last year too.

I just hate when people throw the word hater around. Just a personal thing I guess. I wish mufuckas would come up with a new word already. Or use different words...

No, not foolish. You're chances of being shelved are are waaaaay bigger. You also have to keep in mind that depending on your contract, you can't release ANY material unless it comes out through the major label you're signed to. Some of y'all are brainwashed to think that being on TV and in the public eye = successful and it's sooooooo not what it seems.

So if you're in the process of getting Rass Kassed, you're stuck and can't do shit about it. But you're on a major... whoopee..

You didn't understand my example then. This leads me to believe you don't really know what you're talking about.

quality music will give you that exposure
see, its not only music my firend, niggas need to get out and be visible, like dutch was talking about a few weeks ago. need to get out there and grind like short and 40 did back in the day. niggas just make an album, and expect it to sell itself. shit don't work like that.
it ain't like back in the 90's where i can be tight, and get a deal off my skill.
used to be about units sold. now they don't care about indie units either cuz they signing alot of garbage...
so now its all about the high school kids and what they like, imo.
everything needs to come into play in order for a region such as the bay to come up: quality music, unity, exposure, shows, positive promotion, fan support.
