its a year later and the only thing they have failed at is breaking through to mainstream but that shit dont matter becuz they are makin their bread
i dont believe thats true, tech was on BET and videos were on MTV as well kaliko's video, they are knocking at mainstreams door and they about to be let in....just requires at least 2 more solid years of selling out

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Skatterman and Snug have a 2 album deal with Strange (Urban Legends & Word on the Street)? If so, I'd say they fufilled their obligation. At least it seems that way.

You can still promote both albums, but they've parted ways, haven't they?

"U hear me knockin? Aww ya! Well LET ME IN DEN!!!"

Techs been knockin at the mainstreams door for years. Dont think he is ever gonna fully push through tho. If he was it would of happened by now. They want him to play ball and he does to an extent but not enough to give him the key to the door. He will just remain peekin through the keyhole the rest of his career. IMO

Dont matter to me as long as he keeps makin good music and stays the way he is. He aint strugglin by any means so who gives a fuck if hes on TV (Besides Tech of course) lol

What exactly do you mean by "they want him to play ball"....

I never really understood when someone says that without being from Strange and hearing phone calls/meetings.

Zero was askin what Tech playing ball to be mainstream meant...

I was sayin they want Tech to stop painting his face, dress more mainstream and make mainstream music.

Im not sayin Tech is doing those things, Im sayin thats what they WANT Tech to do.

every show I go to he has his face painted...he's never had it painted on the album covers UNTIL Sickology...he's never had it painted in videos UNTIL Red Nose...So what are you talking about?
Tech had paint on his face for Absolute Power. May not be the most evident, but it's there. He had paint on his face for the Imma Tell video too, Like Yeah as well.

Stop painting the face, dress more mainstream, make the type of music they want him to make not his own shit.
For the mostpart, Tech didn't paint his face in regards to the promotion of AP, Killer, or Everready. I mean, Tech had cornrows on the cover of Everready. He changed his logo to make it all modern and shiny...

As far as changing the music I don't see the purpose of that if plenty of people already like your shit anyhow. Tech's already said numerous times that he's been approached by labels, so... if you take what he says as truth than the fact is that major labels already reached out to HIM and got shot down. So it's not like the industry is holding him down or anything.

I think you've read the post wrong, Rob. He was explaining what he thinks the industries expectations of Tech would be.
EXACTLY

And to answer Zero's reply.

YES labels have reached out to him, but they wanted him to change how he looks and the type of music he does. He turned it down because of those reasons. So yea he could of been a part of mainstream along while ago, but he wanted to stay true to himself and not sacrifice his ways just to make it.

Yea he did chop off his red hair and put it in corn rows, and did change his logo. Thats why I said in the post they want him to play ball which he sorta did, but not fully like they wanted it.

Yes alot of people do like his music, but compared to the masses who like Lil Wayne, Drake, Soulja Boy ect. most people dont like his music.

This image unfortunately was never used. The L.A. based PR Firm hired by Tech N9ne’s label considered the image to be commercial suicide. There had been a tremendous backlash from the black community over the sacrilegious imagery of his previous album ANGHELLIC. As it was explained to me by the owner of the label, my photograph was “too scary for black people.” Some neutered out-take was used as the cover instead.
I have been reminded of this quote for some reason...
