I thought Bruce Lee created Jeet Kun Do...
But why would anyone compare some MA to MMA seems just weird to me since MMA is (I'm going to step on many toes now...) not realistic since you have rules. And the guy's practicing it are almost always twice the size a "normal" person is who doesn't have a career in MMA.
i think bruce lee was originaly trained jeet kun do by his master but as he got older he developed his own style...

MA vs MMA... its hard and really cant compare the two cuz they both are different and got they own ups and downs... MMA = Big, musculer (slow movements), all MA mixed into one, street fighting, do whatever to win.
MA = Discipline, aswell outer strengh they do inner strength (chi or ki) training (which could help when fighting a big dude), speed, MA fighter often use singular style... its 50/50...:chinese::beard:

Take the UFC for example, when it first strated there was pretty much no rules and it was style versus style on a world stage

Jeet Kun Do was "invented" by Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee created Jeet Kun Do. He himself practiced Wing Chun. His teacher was Ip Man (or some call him Yip Man) There is a movie about this dude. (also called Ip Man, with some good fighting scenes in there. A good watch)

I've heard some guy who practiced some MA created by the US Marine corps say once 'If a MMA guy and me fight in the ring (octagon) he would probably win. But if we would fight on the street, I would kill him'

That sums it all up in my opinion.

If you fight with rules, in a ring with gloves. you are limited in what you are really capable of.
But if you would take that fight out to the street, without rules and gloves. At least one of the two would get seriously damaged.

I know styles which shoot to the groin a lot it's the best distraction there is. And from there they work most of their techniques. But if you are not allowed to do that in a fight, all your training would be in vale..

In the end you cannot really compare styles to eachother.. You see this in the MA world as well. One says karate is the best, the other says Pencak Silat is the best.
All bullshit! you can practice and train your whole life but if you don't have the state of mind to win or really damage your opponent, you still can loose to somebody who never practiced a day in his life but can turn the switch in his head and turns into some kind of killer.

So it depends more to the person practicing the style then the style itself.

And I still have to say most of the professional MMA guys weigh twice the amount we do.
Also it's these guys carriers they practice 6 hours a day 6 days a week or something? While most MA guys practice only one or two times one or two hours in the week, next to their regular job...

See my reply above...

When I see MMA matched (which I enjoy btw) I NEVER can understand why Americans never use low-kicks (leg kicks). Why not?!!?! a couple good ones on your upper leg and the fight is a done deal.

But you never use them, and if I see an American against someone who does uses them, they never know how to block.
These MMA guys need to step their low kick game up. The one who understands this first, will have great advantages!

( I just needed to vent that) :siccness:

random legkicks but never have I seen one low kick performed as it should be.
Like a real May Thai fighter would do..
But ok, I didn't watch every mma fight so maybe there could be a couple of guys who have it down right now. But from what I've seen, this kick is way underestimated.

you mean Muay Thai right?

But one style of low kicking isn't the only way it should be done. Also in reply to your earlier post, the first UFC's pitted style against style and Brazillian Jiu Jutsu came out on top.

Yes Muay Thai. I know that this isn't the only way and there are more variates to the low kick. I was just saying almost nobody does it. And when they are fighting standing up. Being able to perform a perfect low kick on your opponent would be of great advantage.
I know BJJ is on whole other level, especially on the ground. And that is also something every MMA fighter should be able to do. And I like to see a match where they both are really good in BJJ so it will be a technical ground match.
