I'm definitely feelin' B-12's idea. This could be a real powerful force in not only the Bay Area rap music scene, but the rap game as a whole, if it's done right with ample involvement and backing. I'm just gettin' my feet wet in this industry, but I'm definitely down to do all I can to help out and make this crack. To really make this happen, we will need the leadership of those who play a major part in this scene, along with the support of the "little people" like myself and many other independent artists with little more than a dollar and a dream.

As others who posted before me have said, I agree that the biggest obstacle to making this work will be getting people to lose the egos and come together for a common cause...the re-emergence of the Bay Area/Northern Cali as a major force in hip-hop! Like any successful organization, we will need someone to stand up and assume the leadership role in order to put the plan in motion, and it seems like B-12 is passionate about making it work. I know alot of great ideas have been thrown around on this board that are rarely put into action, but I truly believe that something positive and revolutionary can come from this discussion with the proper planning and support. Let's make it happen!

Right on B. I figured that's what you meant. It was just worded funny so I felt like bringin' it up. And you're right, a lot of cats either forgot about me or just weren't involved when I was doin' shit heavy in the Bay. I'm comin' back though. The compilation is just the first step.

I'll see you and everyone else at the BBQ. We got a lot of cats on here with a lot of knowledge and game about this business so I'm hopin' to see some real action taken to put us (the Bay) back in the spotlight.

Gone,

B-12 that was the most well written and thought out post i ever seen...
So fuck you!

I was suppose to write it! LOL

Just fuck ing with you well said dog and whatever I can do to help make this shit happen I'm there.

You got support and it takes Kats like you to make this shit happen..

Your in touch with all factions of the game, producers, artists, labels, etc.

Like ^^^^^ said for it to work and the entire bay to get with it , it has to be a really round table.

I know a meeting would have to be well planned but I've seen meetings like this take place at a hugh park with tables and desks set up and everybody voicing their opinions and get shit in the open then moving forward.

Like i told you 12 in my e-mail to you I can't see everything so don't take personal my knocks to the distribution companies as you pointed out to us all it's alot bigger then what we have seen.

I think alot of the idea you had were enormous and I'll be the first to back it and lets see how many follow from this day forward Tre-8 is officailly boycotting the radio, radio stations, until they play what we want to here!

No 102,103,kmel,94 nothing no RADIO!

Lets put our actions out there not just on a website lets make it a reality and i'll be the first!

Let's making ratings drop we are the voice of the bay if the artist who are suffering because of this agree to boycott ,then so will their fans. Lets do it!

Fuck talking!!!!!!

THIS IS KINDA GOIN OFF OF THE POINT OF THE POST, BUT TO RESPOND TO WHAT YOU SAYIN WAX.... I AGREE PEOPLE ARE NOT CRITIQUING OTHER ARTIST ALBUMS WELL ENOUGH.... THAT IS TRUE.... HOWEVER MOST PEOPLE ARE GONNA ALWAYS HAVE THEIR OPINIONS, AND THEY MAY NOT BE THE LOGICAL ONES, BUT US REAL ARTIST JUST HAVE TO BE ABOUT OUR BUSSINESS AND DO WHAT WE CAN TO OUTSHINE..... AND FACT IS, YOU OR I MAY THINK A CERTAIN PERSON IS JUST GARBAGE, BUT SOMEONE AT SONY OR UNIVERSAL MIGHT BLOW THAT CAT UP..... ITS BEEN DONE.... SO THAT IS WHY REALLY GETTIN CATS THAT SHOULDNT BE IN THE GAME OUT, REALLY WONT DO NOTHING FOR US, CYUZZ REGUARDLESS, IF YOUR DESTINED TO BLOW, THEN YOU WILL.... AND FACT IS, THEIR ARE EVEN MORE PEOPLE JUMPIN IN THIS GAME MORE AND MORE DAILY.... ITS UP TO US REAL CATS TO STEP UP, AND TEACH THESE NEW CATS THE WAY THINGS WORK, EVEN HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THE GAME.... CUZZ FOR REAL, WE SHOULD NOT BE COMPETING AND HATIN WITH OR ON EACH OTHER... WE NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND MAKE IT HAPPEN..... UNITED WE STAND, AND DIVIDED WE FALL!!!

Damn, step away for a while and this forum starts living up to its name with this and Cuda's post! These type of topics is why a lot of the industry cats started posing on the old B.A.R.T./Raptalk boards in the first place.

Cuda started an amazing post that has record responses and has generated a great dialogue that the Siccness has been missing for a long time. I considered stop posting on this site due to the "at great lengths" that muthafuckas go to to hate sometimes.
This is how I've felt lately also. I know I might not be that vocal on this board, usually because a lot of the time the posts on here can be very counter-productive, but believe me, I be lurking in the shadows listening and I throw my 2 cents in when I feel its appropiate.

B- I know you been talkin about doing something like this for years. Hopefully it will finnally to come together!

I think this is the missing link that the Bay's been hasn't had for a few years now. Like B said back in the heyday there used to be a rapaport that the industry insiders had which is almost non-existant nowadays. I think it much more important now than ever since the days of local video/radio venues like CMC and KMEL are gone. It seems in the last couple of years everyone is like fuck you Imma get mine while I can.

In these days of RIAA, MPAA and Clear Channel trying to rule world with their vision of what music should be there needs to be a independent voice for the up-and-commers. In the envirnment that exists today the 2Pac's, NWA's, Mac Dre's, Too Shorts, E-40's, etc might not have ever got a chance to develop and had there voice heard because they don't fit into the commercial Clear Channel mold that is popular cookie cutter music today.

I think I've ranted enough. I be looking forward to continuing these discussions at the BBQ.

Magnificient topic. You know how I feel homie. Away from music we're family, so you know this faction has support regardless.

I think we as people need to scrap the whole "crab in a bucket" mentality. We're pretty much all on the same team. We need to start networkin' more. The more people with knowledge we have rollin' on the wagon, the harder that shit is gonna roll. point blank.

we have no problem contributing and helpin the cause.

I MEAN SOME OF US KNOW WHAT NETWORKIN IS, BUT SOME CATS JUST AINT UP ON GAME, BUT YOU RIGHT, WE NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.....

A-WAX.... NAW I UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU MEANT, MAYBEE I DIDNT GO IN DEPTH ENOUGH THO.... BUT YOU RIGHT... WE NEED TO KNOW WHO WE ARE GONNA FOLLOW.... WE NEED TO ANSWER ALL THOSE QUESTIONS YOU JUST ASKED..... BUT I THINK WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER 1ST..... AND SEE WHERE EVERYONES HEAD IS AT BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A LEADER... CUZZ ILL BE DAMMED IF I SAY RIGHT NOW, YEAH IMA FOLLOW SO AND SO..... I NEED TO KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE REALLY THINKIN AND TRYIN TO DO ABOUT THIS... AS WELL AS IM SURE YOU OR ANYONE ELSE IS NOT GONNA JUST JUMP INTO SOMETHIN LIKE THIS TIL YOU HAVE ALL THE DETAILS... IT NEEDS TO BE WELL THOUGHT OUT, AND BASICALLY I SEE WHOEVER IS GONNA BE A PART OF THIS, JUST NEEDS TO BRING SOMETHING TO THE TABLE, BRING SOME SMARTS, A BUSSINESS MIND, AND OPEN MIND, AND IT WILL ALL GO FROM THEIR....

I've only got 15 mins. b4 I get back to work so I'll TRY to be brief.

You guys as a whole are the reason behind all of this. I'm glad I was able to spark this shit ( off.
This is a mere drop in the bucket and your ideas are what's going to help fill it up. With that we can be heard and respected by the entites that are out there that can help us get to the level we deserve to be at.
I decided a year and a half ago to make a career out of my talents. I was sitting w/ My homeboy , Killa, and I was so fucking high that I couldn't possibly get any higher. You know, that stage right b4 you smoke yourself into sobriety?
I looked over to him and said, "I'm bored dude. I need more out of my life." So I started looking for a 'real' job in the industry. I went to my homeboys and asked if there was a position at their spot, but FORTUNATELY there wasn't.
If I had gotten a job there, I wouldn't of had to work as hard as I have. I left my home. Cali! I got thiss gig here in AZ and I've done a lot here. But, you know what? I've done as much as there is to do in 4 years here and crammed it into 1 year.
I need something more to stimulate my mind and challenge my ablilites.
What I'm trying to say is that, "I'm bored dude. I need more to my life!"
SO with that, I'm going to pour as much of my heart and soul into this idea as I can. I have to admit though, it may not work. In order for this to succeed, alot of people are going to have to believe in some risky ideas & be patient with the growth period.
Remember, the unions that were formed in the early part of the century had alot of opposition. Not until there was some advances were people comfortable enough to give there time and money.

Why don't you cats with ideas write them out and send them to me or B. Don't worry if you think that no ones going to listen to you. All contributions are good contributions.

damn 2 great post!!!!!

-->but shit needs 2 be said---like WAX was saying....itz good on paper but when it comez down 2 it there are many issues that need 2 be delt with b4 something like this can happen in the bay--but change can happen. the problem is that the game has already been established in the bay which makes it hard-cuz of all the egos in this biz.

the only way this would work is if an elected body is selected.<-this would be the hardest part of the process cuz a LOT of folx have bias's, favor's they owe, etc.
Many artist who have something invested in a potential "representative" would want 2 have a extra "card" 2 play in this game. much like the current political situation is in the U.S. (lobbies pay our representatives for special favors).

what it takes is a LEADER--with enuff conviction 2 do something about the current situation, put money into it, and SHAKE THINGZ UP. this takes a lot of ballz. unfortuanatly POWER and MONEY corrupts and gotz fools looking sidewayz.

hopefully out of these discussions a LEADER will emerge or if NE thing the foundations for great things 2 come: THE LABEL GROUP

-thankz for the post B12-

Man, Wax, thats some real shit. Cleaning up the back yard, well, I think that will take care of itself. There ain't enough room for everyone unfortunately and "survival of the fittest" comes to mind. Or even "natural selection". WE don't need to decide who deserves to stay or go, that will be decided by how much work they put in. Talent is something you are born with, image and charisma is something you can develop. Let the weaker cats get better. Let's be constructive and tell them how. If we as the industry vets don't show the way, no one will.

Could you imagine ONE record label in the Bay??? 100 releases a year (that's about 8 releases a month) that sell 10,000 units each is roughly 1,000,000 units sold. That's about $7,000,000 dollars in gross billing less manufacturing and promotion costs tha leaves about 5 mil to be divied up among the artists and sub-labels. Imagine that...that's power.

Wax's reply brings up another important issue...who runs shit? Who decides who are soldiers and who have to be excluded all together? Well, obviously the veterans lead the charge and the new booties earn their positions. Its like buying stock in a large corporation. You may not have much to say about the day to day operations if you own one stock (read: one album or one song on a compilation) but the more money or product you invest, the more say you have. Also, albums should be ran through the "assembly line" like the old Motown days and a panel should critique the album, the artwork and develop an effective plan to get this product to the masses. It could be huge...

More thoughts though, we are a long way from making this a reality but all input and thoughts are appreciated.

Peace.
