Sicilians are the product of rape by african pirates and arabs. Do you see me bitching about africa and what they did to my people 500-600 years ago? No i dont.

Was it wrong? Yes, are the sicilians currently feeling a NEGATIVE stigma in Italy because of this? NO?!?!?!?!?

While Sicilians really dont have anything to do with this thread other than to create a comparison, I'm really not down with all the misinformation going around. As I've posted countless other times, Sicilians are not Italians, and are looked down upon in Italy. Sicily did not even become a party of Italy until 1910, and before that, they were looked at as the "black Italians". I know I've said it before, but they were all a CONQUERED people for the past 4000 years. Phonecians, Egyptians, Africans, Arabs, Greek, Roman, Norman, Vandals, Goths, Aragonese, Asians, Mongolians, Sicels, Sicanis, Turks etc. etc. etc. Sicilians have had people coming to their island and enslaving them up until the early 1900's. They were forced to switch their religion dozens of times, forced to work, enslaved by the Africans, raped, and controlled. The reason that the mafia even existed was to protect the Sicilians against the Italians and the Italian government.

Sicilians were not forced to come to America, but when they were spit on, not given jobs, not served in restaraunts, not given spots in the government, and went through an economic depression, they did not have a choice. So, NO they were not forced to come to America. But why were they in such a bad position that they did have to come to America in the fist place? Because they felt the after-effects of slavery thousands of years later.

Like I said before, I've had northern Italians hang up on my family members on the phone because of their Sicilian dialect. My grandpa was killed by the Mafia while trying to live a normal life. My uncles have served jail time. I eat Sunday dinner with a bunch of ex-cons, killers, and criminals who were FORCED to live the life they live because in both Italy and America they were seen as complete trash. I have family members in Sicily that are straight up MISSING right now.

So yeah, the Sicilians have entered into a part of America where they are no longer feeling the effects of racism, but make no mistake that IN ITALY they are still being treated like absolute shit. Go to Sicily. Look at the hospitals there. Look at how the mafia is driving around in armored cars. Look at how people that want to fund community programs have to talk to the local mafia don for permission instead of the mayor.

I know that this has nothing to do with reparations, but when people say that Sicilians don't feel any bad effects, that just kinda gets me heated.

One thing I will say, however, is that being a Sicilian in America does not mean that you understand what its like to be an African in America.

Are the Sicilians in Italy currently being the denied the right to practice the religion of their choice, the right to own property, the right to vote, the right to employment, the right to health care, the right to education and the right to have children? If the majority of the Sicilians are not experiencing these things, or if the incidents of such discrimition are isolated, how can you say they are "treated like shit"?

Treated like shit = Sudan and many afrikan countries.

Just to add something that i forgot - Sicilians were exiled and deported to America during Mussolini's reign because he hated the Sicilians and needed to break up the community structure in order to control the island during world war II.

But to answer your question - No, Sicilians are not being denied these rights. But are blacks in America denied the right to practice religion, own property, vote, employment, healthcare, education, and children?

But treated like shit, I mean treated with racism, denied jobs by racist employers, denied food by racist businesses, denied PROPER healthcare by racist doctors, etc.

I'm not tryin to say that they're living in the conditions similar to Kenya (where my cousin is doing missionary work and told me a LOT about social conditions). I'm trying to say that they're living in conditions unfamiliar to white america.

Either way, I'm not saying this to argue for or against reparations. I just wanted to clarify some of the misinterpretations people have.

Until the 60's and 70's yes and this was mandated by the united states government. Currently? In isolated incidents and no longer backed by the federal government.

Black people in america currently experience this.

Simple basic math says the cambodian slaves had it 50,000,000 times worse then what the American slaves had it.
I think you made a mistake on your simple basic math lol. First as Heresy mentioned the 2-3 millikon Cambodian's who were killed were not all slaves. Therefore they were not killed as slaves. Secondly, here is the simple basic math, 8 million Cambodian's were captured (for lack of a better word) by the Khmer Regime, and 2-3 million were killed. Aproximately 30 million African's were captured as a part of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and aproximately 20million were killed.

3/8 = 37.5%

20/30 = 66.7%

This is a stupid argument nonetheless because it really has nothing to do with whether or not African Americans are entitled to reparations (which they are), and comparing who had it worse in two deplorable situations is a disservice to both.

Do you have any idea how vicious the Khamar Rouge were?

Let me ask you this. How do you think African Slaves were treated by there owners?

There is a big difference between being whipped (rarely) and being Beatin to shit, not fed and when they had no use for you anymore killed and thown in a mass grave.

Howmany mass graves have they found in america in which the victems were slaves?

Do you know that alot of slave owners looked at there slaves as friends and in some cases family? do you know that George Washington's best frined was his 'slave'?

As far as reperations i never said I was against them, I said handing out money to all black people isnt the best way to deal with it. Investing it into the community is the best thing you can do with that money. Say they get 5 grand each right? How long will that money last? why not build reck centers in the black community? why not develop programs that will help at risk youths? Why not put a buch of the money in the UNNCF?

HERESY,
YOU ASKED, "For those of you who advocate reparations for african-americans can you elaborate?" "Why do you feel african americans should be entitled to reparations, and in what way do you feel these reparations should be made?"

SOME FUND SHOULD BE MADE POINT BLANK PERIOD AND 40 ACRES SHOULD BE AN ACTUAL LAND ALLOCATION. WHY I SAY THIS? WELL, LAND OWNERSHIP= SOME SORT OF POWER AND IS A JUST COMPENSATION FOR THE HORRIFIC WRONgS OF THE PAST. THE FUND SHOULD COME WITH SOME SORT OF CONDITION TO BETTER THAT INDIVIDUAL.

AND HERESY,
I'M CURIOUS AS TO YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR OWN QUESTIONS.
