just how much "realness of the streets" do you have to understand to enjoy the boring, repetitive, played out sound of "gangsta" rap????

I'm not saying make music that everyone can relate to, but if your music sounds lazy and sounds like a million other records available, then what the fuck is the point
While I completely understand this point, the point of the "cookie cutter" rapper is usually them giving their version of life. Yes, it sounds the same, but most of the time it boils down to tone and flow that hooks me to someone that raps about shit I've already heard before.

word..

if they can give the same message with a cool delivery, then I will listen. but if its the same topics, with the same boring ass rhyme structure, then i have no desire to check it out..

the thing with these cookie cutter, "gangsta" rappers, is that 90% of the time they are just making party tracks, 'hood anthems' and shit to bump in your car. so it REALLY becomes repetitive, because they are trying to maintain an image, while talking about smoking weed, drinking and killing people.

if somebody can tell a cool, true story about their everyday life, be it street life or hood shit, whatever, then they are on to something. add a unique style to it, a vocabulary, some multis, some punchlines, etc... and you have a decent artist.

im not hatin on skat and snug, but they fall short of my 3rd paragraph. they talk about the basic shit, in a basic way...

i wouldn't even feel the need to mention any of this if it weren't for that dude who basically said you have to live the street life to appreciate the music..

because that shit doesn't add up

Strange Music paid for their studio time, made sure they were taken care of, and I bet even bought the notepads and pens they wrote their rhymes on. You sign that contract and you know for a fact you won't get shit if you leave the label. They made that decision, and they're dealing with it.

I'm not gonna feel sorry for them, or even dig up another reason to doubt Strange's business sense. This is a small label that has inconsistencies in some places, and unfortunately they didn't do their job in promoting SS.

And that family shit they're talking about is true. I don't think I've seen many men love their kids as much as Snug does. I can't speak for Scatterman cuz I don't know him.
They are BOTH GREAT FATHERS their children are their life. They have the greatest love for their kids, and NO you don't see that in society very often. As far as WHITE and BLACK issues...thats always come from the Strange fans. All I ever heard was they want more PROMOTION and to be MARKETED to the right crowd.

"People see us, and everybody think we real rowdy. It ain't like that," he says. "You can take it there if that's where you want to go, but we both got children. We both get up on some Mr. Mom shit."

"They first," Snug says of his kids. "When we get up, our first thought is to take care of them, then us. That's the difference. Motherfuckers still think we're in the street."

"Like, still on the corner with a rag in my pocket, gangbanging," Skatterman says. They laugh.

"It's crazy," Snug continues.

I love they finally addressed all the shit talking about how they are on the wrong track, and into illegal activities. LMAO

You know, the only reason i know of *any* KC artist is only because of Tech. It's not because of Strange at all actually. Don't get me wrong, Strange did get Tech to his highest point of popularity. But Im in CT and I found about Tech a little over 10 years ago and since then have been checking out all the artists he did tracks with.

This whole situation is fucked up. My brief and humble opinion is that SS didnt appeal to the Juggalo crowd and they didnt want them or push them..

Like i said i think with the mixtape scene (which tech needs to do its obvious) they will do bigger and better things

its only gonna go up
