Talk about a desperate move for a desperate team. Too bad Seymour isnt gonna make much difference, this defense is atrocious.

And in all honesty, the Raiders would have wasted that 1st pick one another bust anyways. So this might have been the best move for them.

EXACTLY. PLUS SEYMOUR IS ONLY 29. GOOD PICKUP.
The addition of Seymour is obviously going to upgrade their D-Line, but the price they paid is over the top. The guy is no longer in his prime, although he is still a good player. It was a nice addition and a decent move for the raiders THIS YEAR, but next year and beyond it might not help them much. Like others have said, he will probably walk after this season and the raiders basically gave up a top pick for a one-year stint with a past-his-prime Richard Seymour.

Obviously this is going to make their team a little better this year without any sort of drawback, but the drawback will come next April. Maybe Al Davis figured out he blows draft picks anyway and has just decided to trade them away.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IF THE NINERS HAD ACQUIRED SEYMORE NINERS FANS WOULD BE ALL ON HERE JUICED. STOP BEING SUCH FUCKIN HATERS FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIVES.
I can't speak for others on this site, but I can say I wouldn't mind having Richard Seymour. But if we traded away a 1st-round pick (which wouldn't be as dumb on our part because we have TWO next year), I would be pissed. That's too much to give away. I'd be OK with a 2nd rounder and maybe another later pick, but not a first, especially if we didn't have two first round selections. I know for a fact that most of the community on the Niners forum I frequent would be outraged if we gave up a first round pick.

You act like the Whiners didnt waste hella money on Alex Smith.
You act like that matters. We haven't been lacking in cap room. Every year we're among the teams with the most cap room in the league. So bringing up Alex Smith's contract, or Nate Clements' contract, or Justin Smith's contract, or anybody else's contract is useless. I could understand if the big contracts we've given out recently have hurt our team, but the truth is they haven't hurt us at all so they are irrelevent. You're just reaching for an argument now.

FIRST ROUND PICKS ARE HIT AND MISS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER AL DAVIS IS MAKING THE PICK OR NOT. SOONER OR LATER YOU NEED TO TRADE THEM. SEYMORE IS A DOPE PLAYER WITH A GOOD 3-4 YEARS OF DIFFERENCE MAKING PLAY IN THE TANK. WE ADDRESSED OUR MOST GLARING AREA OFF NEED WITH THIS MOVE.

FUCK THAT 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICK. THIS IS A GREAT MOVE FOR THE RAIDERS. STOP REACHING FOR A REASON TO CRITISIZE IT FATAL. DON'T ACT LIKE THE NINERS HAVE SOME KIND OF STELLAR 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICKING RECORD EITHER.
