Exactly. The prisons should not just punish, they should try to get the people, especially the youngsters, into a position that can help them to find a job and/or change their way of living.
It isn't the prisons job to do that... Besides prisons need prisoners so they can make money off them.

It's the parents responsibility to raise their kids correctly and teach their fucking kids right from wrong.

So you never broke any law in your life? You always listened to your parents? What about children that don't have a father and a mother?

You think the rich children in a nice suburb and the poor children in the bad neighborhoods have the same chances in life? As long as they listen to their parents...lol

That was a retarded statement...

It's all relative though. Some kids listen, some kids don't. Some get caught, some don't. A lot of rich kids are more out of touch than those who grew up with struggles. And anybody who uses their brain and focuses can make whatever they want of themselves.

I think EVERYBODY has to remember that we are all animals by nature. Man made laws demonized many natural instincts that animals use for survival.

One time out here in Sac County Jail they put me in a cell with a toilet that had over flowing shit water for almost three days...I needed to take a shit hella bad and told the officer more than five times about the problem and it took them almost the whole weekend to send a trustee to come unclog the thang...and to top it off had me and my celly stay in the cell while it got uncloged...i will never forget that smell

I dont remember why I got arrested for but im pretty sure in was some traffic shit like driving on a suspended licence...now imagine ur mom or sister having to go through some shit like that becuase of some traffic tickets...our prison system needs to be reformed bad

The issues are so much bigger than the conditions in jail though. People complain about everything, it doesn't matter. I have spent years as an inmate and it was more the treatment than conditions that was the problem. It is a lifestyle in the end. You have people glorifying prison life who have never stepped foot on a yard. I have been in the shu, not pelican bay though. It is easy to comment from the outside looking in, but from the inside looking out is the perspective you need to truly understand. County living and prison living are completely different animals all together. I could say so much more but will not. What I will do though is educate myself to make a difference for my people in the struggle. Not the ones that talk it, but the ones that live it.

If any of you have people behind those walls, be there for them emotionally. A letter, a little money is all it takes. It is a state of mind in the end.

^^^ that's why the first thing you get on commissary is mayo... 4 pieces of bread, 2 pieces of bologna, and them (2) american white cheese, one squirt of mustard... you need something to smooth it out so it aint so dry... and don't forget your 8 ounces of %2 milk =)

You make it sound good until you realize you're eating last weeks bologna ground up or freshly steamed for breakfast.

That's not cheese, it's coloured cardboard. ...and to top it off, it's not even available for general population, you have to be on "special diet" to get it.
