@ 2-0 .. I don't think Bute fights him at this point. Too risky and Bute has damn near guaranteed good money fights if he just waits on the Super 6 guys to batter each other and takes fights with them.
I'm sure bootay will be happy fighting bums until the super six is over, but sometimes a large payday can convince people to take some risks. Hopefully he takes the challenge but you're probably right.

one last thing this was a knockdown:

A punch caused pascal to go down. No legs tangled or anything like that. Pascal does a very good job pointing to the canvas like something caused him to trip, but it's clear as day the punch caused it. There was another one before that as well. Ref sucked big time.

^^^you see his back leg slip on the mat. but he did look a bit stunned watching live. but i can see why the ref called it a slip.
Every time Pascal "slipped" and touched the mat it just so happened to be preceded with Hopkins right hand to the face. If you're throwing a punch, get punched in the face, and the punch causes your own momentum to throw you off balance and your glove touches the ground that's a knockdown.

I thought all those slips should've been ruled as knockdowns but at the end of the day it didn't matter. Hopkins got it on every card.

.. also I was on ESPN and they scored the fight 114-114? How in the hell did they manage to get that score.

^^that was fat dan who scored it even, the same guy who had BERTO beating Ortiz by two rounds. He's a terrible scorer.

Anyways, naner you just said what I was going to say. The punch caused pascal's leg to go out on him. You can see him dipping forward cuz he got nailed in the face and his leg goes out, aka a knockdown.

Same shit is this just different angle:

both pascal and hatton were throwing punches, ate right hands and go down forward, only difference is hatton went all the way down, pascal's hands hit the canvas.

There could have been two knockdowns called but at least there should have been at least one knockdown for sure called. B-Hop was hurt a few times but he toughed it out. Great fight! He beat Pascal with timing.... he was timing then right hand leads.

"Newly crowned WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins didn’t pay the sanctioning fee to the IBO, so the IBO belt held by Jean Pascal is now vacant."

Does anyone recall this happening before Floyd started doing this?
I remember Floyd doing it and people getting upset (bad for the sport, all about the money, etc.). Personally, I think it's great.

it's happened a lot in boxing. Riddick Bowe throwing the WBC belt in the trashcan during a news conference was the most famous instance.

Hopkins didn't pay the IBO sanctioning fee because the IBO isn't one of the four major titles. He kept the WBC title, The Ring belt of course (no sanctioning fee there) and apparently the "WBC diamond belt."

what's funny is the WBC tried to make hopkins give them his trunks and gloves after the fight:

@danrafaelespn Wretched WBC had an official try to shake down @therealbhop for his trunks & robe after beating Pascal because El Presidente wanted them. 46 minutes ago

Sounds surprising but they do that a lot because they sell them for big money as memorabilia afterwords. They did the same thing with Pavlik after he beat Taylor. smh
