One of the most important companies in the U.S.? If GM filed for Bankruptcy, exactly how would that make our situation worse? I can see banks, but c'mon...the best cars in the United States right now are foreign.
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but if it meant another 244,500 people were unemployed it wouldn't be the best thing either.

The American auto companies are failing because they put profits over product.
If GM would have failed another car company would take their spot. Thats the way it works, knock off the top guy and someone else takes his spot.
The bailout is creating temporary jobs which will NOT fix the economy in the long run. Bailing out companies who mis-managed their business is not a good way to punish them.

He also told everybody that the U.S. is not a Christian nation, even though 80%+ of the population is Christian
Well, that's not exactly what he said. He also said that the US isn't a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation.

For one, this country was FOUNDED on the Christian faith. I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying it's wrong...but it is a FACT! I read the Newsweek article, and it offered no insight as to what percentage of the United States is still Christian. It was 86%, then it declined.
The Newsweek article actually does give a percentage...

According to the American Religious Identification Survey that got Mohler's attention, the percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 percentage points since 1990, from 86 to 76 percent.

This country is not a Christian nation. People came to this country to escape religious persecution, not be a part of it. And founded on Christianity? The original"christians" that came here were Pagans in the first place. And let alone the Constitution, which is what this country was ACTUALLY founded on, is devoid of any religious bias.

Right, they came here to escape religious persecution, but the people were still Christians. The English, the Dutch, the Irish, the Italians...all believed in Christian faiths. It was to be a "nation under god", which is Christian any way you look at it. Again, I'm not supporting it or going against it...because I think that, for the most part, organized religion brings out the evil in a lot of people. Even though people came here to escape religious persecution, they still believed that their way was THE way...

Obama is a liar, a sell out, a coward, and a fraud.

His change is bullshit. I don't know why anyone fucking believed that bullshit.

But then again, I know bullshit when I hear it. And when a politician's got words coming out of their mouth, I KNOW THEY ARE LYING. :)

Why do you leave out the ORIGINAL inhabitants of this country?

Those Christians fucking killed off 250,000 of them.

Your point is moot. Fuck their escape, they came here and slaughtered people JUST LIKE THEY DID IN EUROPE. Can't say Christians never created wars either.

And "God" is not just a Christian word. I don't believe they made it up but :cheeky:

I'm not getting into what the founders thought....I've read some of this mess and it seems most of you dont' know DICK and should do a lot more research.

"Nation under god" comes from the pledge of allegiance. The original pledge never had "nation under god," that wasn't added until 1951-1952 to distinguish ourselves further from the the "atheist communists" (remember, early 50's was during the cold war).

Many of our founding fathers were very anti-christian, or better yet anti-organized religion, many were deists. Look up the countless quotes from them in regards to religion. You should know this from our discussions in the gathering of minds forum years ago Sydal.

It's not a punishment at all. It's a "let the tax payers suck yoru dick" hand out.

So we get fucked, and they don't do shit to change.

GM and all them could have created electric cars in the fucking 1970's but they didn't. I would have much rather had the gov't tell them to eat shit and fuck off, let them fall and like you said, someone WILL fill the void.

I'm just wondering what everybody thinks about Obama's latest bullshit. Most notably, him bowing to the Saudi king and cutting funds for our defense systems (such as missile defense).

On top of that, what do you think about the democrats sucking Castro's dick?

Speak on it...
These are very stupid ass reasons to hate on Obama, obviously this is probably shit they discuss on mainstream media.

1). The Missile Defense program IS a waste of money.

2). Sucking Castro's dick?? haha, explain how he's doing that?!? And what threat is Cuba to the US? What threat is Fidel, on his death bed?

Hate on Obama for legit reasons, like sending thousands of more troops to Afghanistan and bombing Pakistan. Hate on him for bailing out banks/rich ass holes and not helping us working folk. Don't hate for dumb ass retard shit that really has no relevance with anything. If anything at all, those two things you originally talked about (defense and cuba) are positives, not negatives.

I'm glad someone else knows this....that's what I was getting at but didn't feel like going into it in my post.

I haven't watched mainstream news in about a year or more, so I really don't know what exactly is being discussed on these TV shows. I read about it from time to time but it's always the same old predictable shit. News media, especially cable news, is all about EMOTION now days (Glenn Beck, Hannity, O'Rielly, that keith olbermann, etc.), it's so far removed from traditional news reporting it can hardly even be called news.

I read the Newsweek article, and it offered no insight as to what percentage of the United States is still Christian. It was 86%, then it declined. STILL, more than HALF of the US is Christian...either way you look at it. As of 2008, 25.1% are Catholic, 15.8% are Baptist, 14.2% are generic Christian, 12.9% are mainline protestant, 3.5% are pentecostal, 3.1% protestant denominations, 1.4% Mormon...that's 76%. That doesn't include the people they DIDN'T ASK! It's a survey, and there's no way in hell they asked 300 Million+ people...I know they didn't ask me.
I can respect your opinion, so respect mine.
you know what I find funny is that prominent leaders of this country being founded like Ben Franklin were athiest and only put the christian terms into law to be politically correct and gain support. Since then those words have changed our country so much. Its a trip.

i'm not joking either. some shit i learned takin all those journalism courses.

they can't just present news, cause most people are too stupid to care about REAL issues...so they gotta entertain these fucking pions at the same time.

it's fucking pathetic...

what would happen if the govt didnt give the bailout money to the auto companies? wouldnt that mean those companies in debt would have to close business. meaning tens of thousands of people would be out of a job. wouldnt that large increase of unemployed people completely cripple the economy?
not really. people who normally buy GM / Chrysler / Ford aren't going to stop buying cars just because they went out of business. the japanese and european automakers would probably open up more factories here to take advantage of the new demand.

if that were to happen, the transition period would probably be painful though.
