-Overall liberal attitude. Tolerant of those in subcultures.
-GREAT public transportation, rivaling taking your own car.
-Grafitti
-People are more talkative and open.
-Thriving art and music scene
-Some liquor stores NEVER CLOSE. go to the TL, youll find one open at 4am. and still selling liquor.
-Open air drug markets.
-World famous eateries

San Francisco (negatives)
-Rental/housing Price
-Weather
-Asians have decided for themselves it is perfectly fine to say "nigga"
-Inability to drive freely (sometimes you just wanna drive....in san francisco this tends to be a bigger mission than is needed to be)
-Price of goods/services are higher
-Somewhat dirty, which comes with big cities
-Gay influx. i dont care what the most hood person in san francisco tells you, at some point he drives by a gay bar smoking a blunt and catches a glimpse of a 250 pounds white man with no shirt, a leather jacket, and a sailor hat with a full beard. you will see men kissing and holding hands whether you like it or not or whether you look for it, because its there. you dont HAVE to look. you will see the transvestites on polk street.

-Rich history
-Black population
-Music scene
-Car scene
-weather isnt as weirded out as SF
-Wholesale drugs
-Communal vibe between those whom have lived there
-Black owned businesses
-Commute is easy to different cities
-Crime
-Sluts

Oakland (negatives)
-Kids just now getting into cocaine
-Crime (both a negative and a positive depending on who you are)
-City issues
-Sluts
-Drugs
-Violence, murder rate is higher.
-Cheesy ass oakland raider fans

^ nice post, in the end its still a toss up for me too, but only because san diego really IS the shit, and gives So Cal the edge to match up. L.A. cant touch SD or SF (most of the bay actually) when it comes to quality of life overall.

it really just depends what kind of person you are and what you prefer. I think people in Nor Cal are cooler and more laid back for the most part than most of the people down here (lots of high-class, surfer-type people that annoy me), but So Cal has the outdoor/nightlife/beaches/women aspects locked down way more than the north.

I could live in either place and be satisfied.. California as a whole takes the prize as best state, even though it really should be 2 since theyre so different. Should be split in half at san luis obispo or so.

the only place in the bay i would trade for san diego is san francisco. and EVEN THEN, you go to san francisco and the bad weather and the lack of regular mexican food gets to you.

and you get home sick.

if you go to a beach in san francisco as a san diego native (yes yall have a beach), you might cry.


but when you get back from san fran and your staying in san diego you miss the fact that everything used to be closeby..and now you HAVE to get in your car to go to the store instead of walking out your building and crossing the street..

you might also miss that sf was centrally located to alot of different cities..but...mexico makes up for that...atleast for me.

i honestly dont know what the big deal is with the whole smog thang down in here in the LA area...maybe its cause i aint really left this area too much..guess im just so used to it...but there is a huge brown clowd over everything comin thru the pass from vegas..

LMAO! Nor Cal if more laid back unless you're in the bay and valley cities influenced by the current bay theme. With that said, I've only been to Anaheim and Los Angeles, put away turf and bullshit aside Anaheim was a nice place to view but when you get into the ghettos it reminded me of home. Grimy!
