Larry Mac Duff, who served as 49ers special-teams coordinator from 2003 to 2006, is the first person to interview with coach Mike Singletary for the vacancy, the team said. Singletary decided this week not to not retain Al Everest on his coaching staff.

Mac Duff left the 49ers to become co-defensive coordinator under Mack Brown at Texas. He resigned after one season. He spent last season as defensive coordinator of the Las Vegas franchise of the startup UFL.l

nfl.com counts muffs as fumbles and 4 of them his rookie year...but he has lost 5 fumbles in 5 years, pretty good ratio if you ask me...and i think we all can agree he's better than anything we have and more than likely the best in the league right now.

lol, where'd you get 18 from Brian?

nfl.com

http://www.nfl.com/players/joshcribbs/careerstats?id=CRI120494

^^^ breaks it down-- rushing, receiving, punts, kicks

this year he had 2 receiving, 1 rushing, 1 kick, 2 punt

he has 8 tds on kick returns in his career, and 2 tds on punt returns...

out of 265 kick returns and 103 punt returns

and he only has 36 catches in his career. how is that much more valuable than the hall of fame returners i mentioned?

this was his best year with 20 catches and 135 yards for the season. 6.8 yards per catch.

not saying he isnt better than what we have, jus saying he isnt worth a high draft pick. the fumbles arent as bad as they look, most were recovered.

Josh Cribbs 4 offensive td's 10 returns for td's in 5 years
Dante Hall 9 offensive td's 12 return td's in 9 years
Desmond Howard 7 offensive td's 8 return td's in 11 years

you are highly delusional if you think either of hall or howard are HOF'ers...

and Cribbs value comes from his ability to run, catch and throw. aside from ronnie brown he is probably the best weapon in the wildcat in the nfl.

April Interviewed

The special teams search continued today with Mike Singletary interviewing Bobby April in Orlando. April has coached in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, and most recently, in Buffalo. He received Special Teams Coach of the Year honors in 2008 from Professional Kicking Services organization. The 49ers have also interviewed former special teams coach Larry Mac Duff.

Singletary is in Orlando for another engagement.

The 49ers also signed fullback Jehuu Caulcrick, who spent time last year on the Jets and Bucs practice squads. Caulcrick finished his career at Michighan State with 39 touchdowns, second most in school history.

49ers Reorganize Business Operations
http://www.49ers.com/news-and-event...erations/b417ccc0-7df1-4080-ac6c-b631b45cde9e

The San Francisco 49ers announced a reorganization of the team’s business operations in a move designed to streamline the organizational structure and emphasize team sponsorships and corporate sales. As part of the reorganization, the role of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) has been eliminated. Andy Dolich, who served as the team’s COO for the past two years, will be leaving the team.

The team also announced that Jed York will assume the title of Chief Executive Officer as part of the reorganization. Dolich will aid York as a senior advisor while the team begins a nationwide search for a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), a new position that will report to York. Also reporting to York will be General Manager Scot McCloughan, Chief Financial Officer Larry MacNeil, and Executive Vice President of Football Administration Lal Heneghan.

During Dolich’s two years with the 49ers, he helped lead the effort to enhance the game day experience at Candlestick Park, improved customer service for our season ticket holders and built a ticket sales and service department that has been successful in attracting new fans to the stadium while retaining relationships with current season ticket holders.

“I want to thank Andy for the work he did to enhance the game day experience, heighten our overall marketing profile and build a strong business operations team for the future.” said CEO Jed York. “I wish Andy the best.”

As part of the reorganization, the team also announced that Director of Business Partnerships Pat Streko will be leaving the organization.

Niners vs Broncos in London

Looks like the Halloween game next season will be played in London. The Niners are somehow going to be the home team for this one....looks like one less game at SF. I guess Jed York don't give a fuck about Candlestick anymore and just wants to go to Santa Clara.

The NFL's International Series of regular-season games will return to the United Kingdom in 2010 with the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Denver Broncos, the NFL announced Friday.

The game will be played on Sunday, Oct. 31 at Wembley Stadium in London at 1 p.m. ET . CBS will provide live television coverage in the United States.

The 49ers and Broncos are among the most decorated franchises in NFL history, combining for seven Super Bowl victories.

"For the past three years we have seen the extraordinary passion that exists for NFL football in the UK," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "We want to continue to build on that passion by strengthening our ties to our existing UK fans and creating new ones."

The 49ers, five-time NFL champions, will take part in their second international regular-season game and first as the home team. One of the world's most popular NFL franchises, San Francisco faced the Arizona Cardinals on October 2, 2005 in Mexico City in the first international regular-season game in league history, helping attract a crowd of 103,467 to Azteca Stadium.

"The 49ers organization is excited to be part of the NFL's 2010 international schedule," said 49ers President and CEO Jed York. "London is a wonderful venue for two of the most storied franchises in NFL history to square off. The international games have been so well received that it will surely be an exciting experience for our players, coaches, staff and fans. We support the league's initiative to bring NFL games to the international stage, and look forward to playing in front of our fans in England."

The Broncos, two-time Super Bowl champions, played in seven international preseason American Bowl games, including in London in 1987. They return to the UK to play against the team they faced in Super Bowl XXIV in 1990.

"The Denver Broncos are honored to play in London against the 49ers as part of the NFL's International Series," said Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen. "Our organization has been fortunate to play in several American Bowls in previous years, including one in London, but to play a regular-season game overseas is truly special. It's a wonderful, historic opportunity for our franchise and will be an unforgettable experience for our players, coaches and fans. I'm excited for the game in London and am thrilled that the Broncos will be part of the NFL's continued international growth."

The NFL is continuing to explore the possibility of playing a second game in the UK in 2010.

Schottenheimer hired by 49ers
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4836901&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers have hired veteran NFL and college coach Kurt Schottenheimer as special teams coordinator
The 60-year-old Schottenheimer was out of football last season after working as the Green Bay Packers' secondary coach from 2006-08.

Niners head coach Mike Singletary also interviewed Bobby April, hired Thursday by the Philadelphia Eagles, and Larry Mac Duff.

After finishing 8-8, San Francisco declined to renew the contract of Al Everest, who took over the job from Mac Duff in 2007.

Upgrading the Niners' return game is among Singletary's offseason priorities after the team struggled in that area all season. The unit was last in the NFL in average punt return yardage and the San Francisco missed the playoffs for the seventh straight year.

So a guy who hasn't coached Special Teams in 15 years is now supposed to turn it around for us....Don't think he's the answer. I think he fit Sing's mold of the type of coaches he wants around, not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.
