If you know a way to persuade people allover the world, including the fundamentalist in the Bible belt, the Middle East and South Asia, and those living in 80% illiteracy in sub-Saharan Africa, and do this in the next 10 years so that we can avoid hitting the 10 billion mark, please tell us

best way to reduce the birth rate is to indusrialize the greater part of world and raise standard of living for all of humanity.and don't come with that globelwarming bullshit you genocidel fool.

LOL great idea.

Can you imagine a metropolis that covers the globe??? Don't worry we have an endless source of energy to supply that growth and maintain it for a trillion people

Also, do you even know what genocidal means?

Ever heard of a nucler powerplant? and yes i know what genecidal means but we can use the nicer word depoulation if you like that better.

What do you do with the waste? And its nuclear...not nucler.

LOL and we had this discussion in another thread so before anyone says something about reprocessing

-Reprocessing is only 90-95% effective
-Reprocessing separates plutonium which can be used in nuclear weapons

Second, reprocessing does not reduce the need for storage and disposal of radioactive waste, and a geologic repository would still be required. Plutonium constitutes only about one percent of the spent fuel from U.S. reactors. After reprocessing, the remaining material will be in several different waste forms, and the total volume of nuclear waste will have been increased by a factor of twenty or more, including low-level waste and plutonium-contaminated waste. The largest component of the remaining material is uranium, which is also a waste product because it is contaminated and undesirable for reuse in reactors. Even if the uranium is classified as low-level waste, new low-level nuclear waste facilities would have to be built to dispose of it. And to make a significant reduction in the amount of high-level nuclear waste that would require disposal, the used fuel would need to be reprocessed and reused many times with an extremely high degree of efficiency—an extremely difficult endeavor that would likely take centuries to accomplish.
A U.S. reprocessing program would add to the worldwide stockpile of separated and vulnerable plutonium that sits in storage today, which totaled roughly 250 metric tons as of the end of 2005—enough for some 40,000 nuclear weapons. Reprocessing the U.S. spent fuel generated to date would increase this by more than 500 metric tons.

This sounds interesting, but of course be very suspicious about all kinds of "sliver bullets" being proposed:

And, of course, energy is only one of the many limits to growth we face. All of which are in theory fixable give a limitless source of energy but a limitless source of energy will cook the planet just from the heat released by the amount of it we will have to use to overcome all of our limits to growth. So the only solution is a new paradigm that is not based on growth, with or without space travel. And, BTW, assuming that we keep growing at the same rate and we manage to get off this planet, we will consume the whole negentropy in the Galaxy in 5 million years. Think about that....

New World Order Monetary System....
What about it?

If you imply that we went off topic, you're wrong, because any New World Order Monetary System will have to be based on something different than the assumption of infinite growth, and the limits to infinite growth and what we do about them is what we have been discussing for the last 3 pages

All of that, when keeping it alive and giving it the same "rights" as the rest of us, only drives us towards extinction.... It is just insane...
Let me give you a scenerio. Your in a car accident that causes you to loose movement of your entire body, but you still retain your consciousness. you cant move your mouth to talk, and your pretty much dependent for the rest of your life on other people. Even though your physical vehicle can never be repaired consciousness, feelings and subjective expiriences are still very much real and a part of your life. From the outside you look like a peaceful mass of body just sitting there, but to you consciously, emotionally and subjectively living like that would be total hell.

the point is that our physical and mental abilities are not the only measures of perception and life.

I know that very well, but from a depopulation point of view, this is very ineffective because males do not give birth, while a single one of them can impregnate thousands of women. I.e., if you believe that people are monogamous and women will not fuck the neighbor's wife, then this has a chance to work, but this is an unrealistic assumption
exactly why dogs are nutured

In the scenario you described, I should be given the lethal injection immediately because I am a useless mass of organic molecules that a lot of resources will be wasted on if people were to keep me alive. It does not matter what I feel and think, the productive part of my life is over and I can't contribute anything any more so there is no point keeping me alive

i agree i probably would chose to be given the injection. but a newborn represents potential and will contribute in the future.
Whether it will contribute something good is a very unlikely event, because as of now we are not good at making sure it will be raised in way that will allow it to do so, while it is 100% certain that it will contribute a lot of destruction in the form of resource usage and waste generation, and as of now, we can not afford that
