Tech has a point with this rant. If this was 10-12 years previous, and he was in the position he's in now.... he would be able to break into the mainstream a WHOLE lot easier. He comes from a different era... when there weren't as many politics, etc., involved. Now, to get play, the system has changed.

But if he has to pay someone $20,000 to play his song.... I say quit bitching and do it, IF you have the money, and IF you are serious about blowing up.

BUT, I do respect Tech for being the type of mother fucker to say, "Fuck THAT." It takes a lot to say that, when you know that all you have to do is take some money, throw it radio's way, and watch yourself blow up. Fucked up system for sure, but it's one of those things in life... :ermm:

Even to someone like Tech I'm sure $20,000 is no chump change. And just paying the initial fee to get on the radio doesn't mean they are gonna play it all the time. You have to pay even more for that.

I'll mess around with the idea some xxfatsxx and see how it turns out putting them on a dvd.

I just got the Kaliko video edited and am not sure where I want to cut it at yet to put it into parts... its kinda weird though because all of my interviews seem to be good. But the first part always gets way more plays than the other parts.

Do you have to cut it? Some people see the first part of the video and don't know where to find the second, or too lazy to click on a second link. I've always enjoyed all of your video's. Having them on a dvd to watch on a tv is alot better then watching on my computer. Let me know if you need any idea's.

Great video. That's hella fucked up on the pay per play radio rotational bullshit. I was in the dark on that shit, I always thought radio was controlled by listener demand and the majority of thier revenue was generated by advertising slots. I never would have guessed that radio strong-armed artists into coughing up kickbacks for a chance of possibly getting into the normal rotation.

The really fucked up thing is that Radio will tell you that they don't do that type of thing, etc., just to "save face." They won't admit it at all. But any artist that's been in the game for a while can tell you how it is. :ermm:

When I first heard about this several years back, I thought, "Ahhh... so THAT'S how some of these artists are getting their whack songs played over, and over, and over......"

It used to be (might still be this way to an extent) that you needed at least 500 spins on radio stations across the US to get your music video played on MTV/2.

So first you have to payoff the radio people to get in rotation.

Then you have to patiently wait for your 500 spins to add up.

Then you get to start the vicious cycle of payoffs all over again with the tv people.

Fuck That Industry.... there has to be a way around without paying these fucks somehow
