nobody is ever fuckin happy

this is the second time a mainstream artist went outta there way to make a song paying homage to our area and it's artists and nobody appreciates shit

you don't hear artists making tribute songs for L.A. or the South or NY, but there have been two specific songs on main stream albums in the last few years directly paying respect to the Bay Area and the West Coast, and we still don't fuckin appreciate it

these mainstream rappers today came up on the Bay and they are showing the love back, give thanks that they gave a fuck enough give us our respect
^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That shit is real. Everyone always bitching about rappers jacking the bays slang and style and all that shit and then someone as big as nelly does a song obviously paying homage to some of his favorite rappers and region and people are hating....DUDE IS SHOWING RESPECT.....I dont think its the best song Ive heard but I liked his Spice-1 verse....Like other dude was saying that was entertaining.....lol

Muthafuckaz do not know a goddamn compliment when it slaps them across the face.

Dude is a big fan of our music, and I guess this is his form of a tribute.

Not like anyone forced him to make this song.

Oh yea, I forgot. The Bay is the Bay own worst enemy, and will never, ever be satisfied with anything. Shame on me for forgetting.

I think it's cool. But it's funny how someone outside the bay make a bigger hit for the bay than a resident bay artist.......Shit is Funny....and once again we quick to embrace someone else and not our own.

WE? Who's we..I definatly dig the track but I don't think I'd be quick to prefer some mainstream shit over some local shit...good music is good music...I'd compare it to Celly Cell's "Bay Classics" song

Right now Nelly or someone from his camp is probably reading this and loving that this thread got 3,000 views in a lil more than a day.

Looks like the props are outweighing the expected haters on this one.

problem is a fake bay song is getting more love and attention than a real bay song. Somebody giving props is cool, but with so few of the bays top artist getting radio play it just seems odd. And if he does a remix it will be Short and 40 and that doesn't help the bay grow. Everyone already knows them they have been in the game since the 80's. I wonder if Nelly is playing this song in the midwest or is it just for generating sales and radio in this market? Because its big money out here, but sadly our artist don't get to see any of it...

there's no such thing as "fake bay music" especially if droop-e made the beat, the fact that its getting more attention then some songs that come out the bay area itself is probably because Nelly is a Multi-Platinum artist with national exposure compared to these 1000's of bay artists signed to 1000's of local record labels but with a $200 budget...and there is big money out here but sadly most of "our" artists dont know how to run a legit buisness in order to see some of this money.

Bottom line is Nelly gave props to a region in which he grew up off its music - and he did in it in an extremely intertaining fashion...

...and the way he did each rapper's style was real in the sense that one would really have to be raised off the music to be able to pay homage to it like that - Bring the Yellow Tape!!!
