I am not quite sure to the circumstances surrounding the Lynch case. Under fire from the media/critics over the rescue attempt or under fire from Iraq soldiers?
The last I heard and I haven’t followed the story that closely at all - as it’s just fodder for the glam-based media – is that she was injured when her vehicle slammed into another unit. Their have been a few speculating that another soldier, fitting Lynch’s description – whom was purported to be shot and stabbed under the siege of their division – a young male from Oregon, his name escapes me at the moment, was subjected to what may be a forgotten, untimely death.
Innocent children? No offense, but I am not quite sure how you can logically classify them as innocent, in any regards. Granted, we don’t know what happened, we weren’t there – and I surely don’t sanction unwarranted killings by our government – but, the report is, the people (Qusay and Uday) in that building “fired” upon US soldiers attempting to “detain” them and paid the ultimate price. That is justified. Ironically, Uday and Qusay were nominal Muslims – Iraq was all but a socialist-irreligious-apolitical state. And no, I don’t think any laws were violated in showing the pictures of their corpses – I am no lawyer, but I would argue, “That they were part of the 52 (or so) Ba’athist regime members that were currently being sought, and while trying to be detained, they opened fire on US troops, thus allowing them to use lethal force – and in the spirit of full disclosure, the proof shall be fully vetted by the public – the US as well as Iraq.” I’m no lawyer, but, apparently that is how it works unfortunately – I mean, who is going to question our government, again?
It’s a shame.
