your a smart guy. you know 9 figures don't make you a "not boring" fighter.
the best thing Mayweather is good at (besides his boring style) is promoting. that's why he gets breaded.

i do think it's dumb for Oscar De La Hoya to hate. i didn't expect anything different from Floyd. i don't know why De La Hoya did.
The question still stands on two fronts.

1. If he is a boring fighter how does he get nine figures? I've said it time and time again, I watch him because of his defense. One minute he is there, you're trying to hit him and the next minute he has lit your ass up and teleported to some other part of the ring. I like seeing people trying to hit him only for him to avoid it. That takes SKILL. People really want to seem him retarded like Bradley, crippled like Mccleland, bleeding black blood like provodnikov or like Ali. How come his opponents can't make it an exciting fight? Why is it on him to make it exciting and what is exciting anyway?

2. If he is a boring fighter how does he get nine figures? You mean to tell me millions of people chose to pay $100 to watch a boring fighter? They bought into the hype and marketing that much?

he "boxes" good. he does what he does and done for hella fights. and that is SKILL. but if his "fans" that loved his skill were the only ones watching, bet he wouldn't touch millions. a huge chunk of his earnings have come from people hoping to watch him lose. i'm sure he also understands that when he's a dick, it still ups his stock with people who will pay to see him "lose". he knows how to promote himself and his fights.

as far as his opponents, they are the "guests". they aren't "the show". Mayweather is so good at "boxing" that his opponents can't win. that's that. that's Mayweather ring. if it's a boring ring, it's Mayweathers.

you don't think the American public falls for hype? especially the "fight of the century"? Americans fall for hype and marketing all day. other than the yearly Super Bowl, i don't think i ever seen anything more hyped and promoted prior to the actual game. i'm sure there was Mayweather/Pacquiao fight parties full of people who don't really give a fuck. read all the "boring fight" articles today. everybody saying Mayweather is boring, like its news. it goes to show you that all these "journalists and bloggers" don't know much about Mayweather, but they understand it's a huge event so they have to talk about it. that's how you make 9 figures.

Does it still sting 206?? Hahahahah! TBE!!! Got Em!!
Never stung in the first place, I just wanted the fight to finally happen first and foremost. I've flip flopped on my prediction for this fight so many times, I said Floyd would win, but then picked Pacquiao to win as the fight got closer since the line was drawn, sides had to be made. Can't be neutral for a fight like this.

taken from r/boxing:
That's an ignorant statement by some casual fans. You're not getting robbed of jack shit. Floyd is who he is. He's fought the same way for nearly 2 decades as a pro. Granted he was a bit more aggressive in his early days, but nevertheless the point stands. The casual fans do not watch his fights because they anticipate an entertaining fight. They're in denial thinking it might happen. What is really the case here is that they are hoping for an upset and buy into this undefeated fighter frenzy. He's built up this overwhelming hype behind him ever since he defeated De La Hoya. The fact that no one is able to penetrate his cunning defensive skills is remarkable and a joy to watch imo, and the casuals fail to see that... so they proceed with the moaning. Watch Golovkin if you want knockouts, Provodnikov if you want war, etc.

It's hard to define what a hater is vs a fan though. You see, I'm a fan of boxing and I bought this fight. I buy all fights because I would really like to see this sport have another fighter get the paydays that Both these fighters get. I feel like I can speak my mind on certain fighters or fights because I buy it. I'm not a hater. A hater is someone that streamed this fight and other ppv fights and criticize these fighters and others that comment on it when in fact they never supported these fighters to begin with. This was sold as the "Fight of the Century" because of all the politics and personal agendas both fighters had. Both promoted like they would put it all on the line and they didn't. Fights like this can make the casual fan a legit supporter of the sport But I feel like it did the opposite. I know this is long but if you streamed this fight and you are clowning the ones that paid for this fight then you are a casual fan and shouldn't be speaking on it.

casual fans ain't gonna do that. they don't give enough fuck. casual fans watch what's thrown at them, what's promoted and marketed toward them. (American) casual boxing fans also really only fuck with Americans. Mayweather as the poster boy for American boxing is good for his fans, but it's not good to the sport from the outside. the outside is what you need to stay relevant and alive though the generations. the outside become hard core fans then they die out. you need to keep it circulating and i don't see that happening. mma gyms are eating boxing gyms up. in America.

You're such an airhead you can't even pick up sarcasm/ people fucking around. HERESY asked what happened to Apollo Creed, I posted the gif/picture from the movie and ran with it. Pre fight fun. Most people understand this kind of stuff, but it CONSTANTLY goes over your head on here.

Then people who actually watch boxing, like most of the people in this forum (you included), should start telling these casuals to shut up because they don't know shit about boxing. There is nothing wrong with wanting to see him lose, shit I wanted to see him lose because it would shake up the landscape of boxing, but I am not going to say he's a boring fighter. On the real, this boring fighter shit is the same as people saying Rakim is the best rapper. One muthafucka said some shit and a thousand others repeated it without question and it stuck.

True, and I have said numerous times that the "Mayweather sweepstakes" has harmed boxing. However, when you are on that level and fighting someone who is the number one athlete in the world, not just boxing but sports period, then its up to you to own that shit. And that retarded smiling muthafucka, Manny pacquio, who I consider tied for #1 P4P LIAR in the sport of boxing (BHOP, DUVA, ROACH, ARUM, OSCAR are all in the running) had the chance but didn't get the job done.

Pimp, it was the fight of this generation. This fight sold itself, they didn't do a lot of marketing and advertising like they normally do. Shit they didn't even have a tour. And the thing is, Floyd wasn't the only one who made nine figures that night. Pac made 9 figures as well. Why aren't people blaming him? This nigga came out taken selfies! He hardly threw punches, he just set himself up for retirement. And now people want to blame Floyd? Where were Pac's angles? Where was the volume punching? And mind you, I said Pac was gonna win by KO in the 9th. If anything, if this fight was boring, which it wasn't (IMHO), then we need to look at Pac and his fans.

What MMA fighter made 9 figures?

What MMA fighter is the highest paid athlete?

MMA can still have gyms popping up but you don't have mma in the olympics and you don't have MMA fighters making the money these boxers are making.

And MMA is behind boxing as the business of boxing is rapidly changing due to PBC.

There really wasn't a lot of promoting for this fight, nothing crazy. The media did all the talking by themselves. The fans and casuals, the world really, has always wanted this fight. It happened, it wasn't as good as people were hoping but that's life. Like I said before, that happens in EVERY SPORT. Some games are awesome, some aren't. But anyone who knows anything about Floyd should have known there was a VERY good chance he would win a decision in this fashion, he was the favorite for a reason, the odds were a decision victory for Floyd for a reason.
