Pacquiao: Hopefully The Mayweather Fight Pushes Through
Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38KOs) remains optimistic that a showdown with welterweight rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) can be arranged for next year.
A dispute over blood-testing scuppered their scheduled bout last year, and political problems then blocked any chance of the fight being rearranged.
But Mayweather's camp have been making positive noises about the chance of a fight in 2012, and Pacquiao would relish the chance to take on the unbeaten WBC welterweight champion.
"I don't have an idea right now, but hopefully the fight will push through next year. We're going to pray that and hopefully there's no problems with the promoter," said the Filipino ahead of Saturday's clash with Juan Manuel Marquez.
"It's going to be a good fight if that fight happens. I'm sure that millions of people are going to love to watch that fight."
The 32-year-old also revealed he is already planning a post-boxing career in politics, adding: "I think I've got a few more years in boxing, but I'm not going to stay too long as I'm going to focus on being a public servant."
