Nitro, what difference does it make what these prisoners were guilty of?
Because if they were caught torturing and raping American soldiers, I would have much less sympathy for them. If they were caught hanging American soldiers to burn and dancing about the smell of burning flesh, I would not be as sympathetic.

What these american soldiers did is a "war crime". End of discussion.
Just about everything from the invasion on was a "war crime", what makes this any different? When it comes right down to war, there is no time for ethical thinking. It's kill or be killed. There are rarely indictments. And there are even fewer verdicts. There is no sanity or morality in war with your enemy. Never. I wouldn't fight a war for Bush, but if he drafted me and dropped me in Iraq, I would have my eyes peeled like an orange. If I heard one bullet sound off I'm ducking for cover and emptying out clips.

Yes, it is a time of war. Is it a time to stack naked Iraqi's in a human pyramid?

Look at the title of this thread. I don't care what anybody says, what they did was some straight up fag shit. If you can't see that, then maybe you are queer.

Geneva Conventions Act

Article 13

Prisoners of war must at all times be humanely treated.Any unlawful act or omission by the Detaining Power causing death or seriously endangering the health of a prisoner of war in its custody is prohibited, and will be regarded as a serious breach of the present Convention. In particular, no prisoner of war may be subjected to physical mutilation or to medical or scientific experiments of any kind which are not justified by the medical, dental or hospital treatment of the prisoner concerned and carried out in his interest.

Likewise, prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity.

Measures of reprisal against prisoners of war are prohibited.

Article 14

Prisoners of war are entitled in all circumstances to respect for their persons and their honour.

Article 17

No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war to secure from them information of any kind whatever. Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind.

If america expects other countries to follow these rules, then they should follow them as well. These american soldiers were court marshaled and hopefully they will receive a stiff penatly.

I do not understand your argument. Sure, its time to kill or be killed. Empty out clips. But no where should their be this kind of behavior.

It's not an arguement really. In so many words I'm saying that this is the same thing that has been happening to Iraqi's for the past two decades. And it isn't until Americans are caught doing it do you see any anti-war figures speak up. I'm in no way defending these soldiers.

Never once have I defended Saddam or his ragime. I acknowledged the brutality of the regime years ago and I have always felt that it was wrong and inhumane. There is plenty of shit going on in other parts of the world that is equally, if not worse. However, america is supposed to be the "greatest" country. We are "civilized." This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and will only fule the fire for further haterid.

I know it is your thread, but I wasn't speaking directly to you. If you acknowledge these things then I'm not talking to or about you.

I heard the peeps that did the torturing were in the National Guard, not the army. I think that the soldiers who were involved in the mistreatment should be tried by Iraqi law, instead of US. Unfortunately, America needs to be glad this incident happened, maybe it will hlep bring back all soldiers home quicker. And as for the retards that posed in the pictures and participated in the administering of these degrading acts, they should be handed over to the Iraqis, hooked to the bumper of a truck and dragged to death, naked in 140* weather

WOW. I'm shocked. I don't know what to say.

I do believe you when you say most of the soldiers are not like this. I don't think this kind of behavior can be that widespread.

But, I know that this isn't an isolated case either.
