it has nothing to do with there having ever been an old kreayshawn or a new kreayshawn, it has to do with her subject matter and entire artistic sensibility being mined from and being an interpretation of mac dre's body of work.

bitch is rapping about drugs and being fly, what did mac dre rap about on his last work? how about this: db the general is arguably a more rigidly "street" and conventional gangster rap artist than mac dre and DB and this bitch fuck w/each other hella tough. to me that makes it extremely likely a more open-minded and visionary artist like mac dre would be open to working with her and the new crop of artists coming up on some weirdo, drug, being fly shit.

I'm saying that getting 2 million views doesn't mean you have 2 million fans. Why would I have a music video with 2 million views? I haven't made a music video. I can show you the car I owe no money on, the house I bought, and the baby and Fiancé I take care of. That's all I really care about. I don't give a shit about Youtube views or attracting major record labels...I'm perfectly happy with where I'm at right now.

How am I a hater, and how are you not. You went out of your way to bash me for no reason. I didn't even talk down on Kreayshawn or what she's doing, I'm saying her SUCCESS REMAINS TO BE SEEN (as far as a solid FAN BASE). Like I said, go look at REBECCA BLACK! Over 100 Million views and nobody likes that fuckin' song. Youtube views are not a representation of how well an artist is received. PERIOD!
the rebecca black situation is different because people watched it specifically because it sucked, same with william hung. thats not whats going on here. youre comparing apples to oranges.

my point is that the presumption that mac dre would be sitting around hella mad and frustrated acting like this shit is the death of hip-hop music like some motherfuckers in this thread is way more far fetched than the idea of him just being like "these young kids is crazy i fuck w/it."

guy was a weirdo (in a good way).

i always come back to this interview when talking about shit like this. mac dre didn't match up to the idea a lot of people have in their head since he died. he was a weirdo, straight up and down. he was on some other shit, and to appreciate mac dre for who he really was in life you have to acknowledge that shit because that's what made his music and his influence on the bay and its culture what it was.

youtube comments are not an accurate gauge of anything. what is quantifiable as a gauge of kreayshawn's buzz/following is the amount of views she's receiving coupled with the amount of real publicity she's receiving from online and mainstream media (which is a lot of fucking publicity). and youtube views = residual compensation from youtube if you're a youtube partner, which many artists are. it doesn't matter what the fuck people are saying in the comments, positive or negative, because youtube's audience and the sensibilities therein are extremely diverse.

she currently has nothing for sale, which i'm sure her team is working on right now. putting shit to market immediately to capitalize on her buzz is going to be hella important.

the catalyst for any success they have selling their product will be in large part based on how much publicity they garner from actual influential media/music/culture entities (complex, fader, vice, etc.) which they currently have no problem generating.

it's important to know this, because no one makes a purchase decision based on some hater's youtube comment, they make it based on recommendation from critics and media outlets that they trust.

Youtube's only accurate gauge IS the buzz...I know that. The point I've been making the entire time is, it doesn't show how many people LIKE her shit...like her representative had claimed.

This thread is hilarious.

Quite a few rappers in here have seem to caught feelings that she is getting put on and you aren't. Hell, your music is probably even better than hers but that's a different story. Some of you are upset by this and it shows no matter if you like it to or not. Not directed at anyone in paticular so if you get offended I guess you are one of them.

For the record I only like the beat to this one song by her and how absurd some of the lyrics are in a goofy type way to laugh at, not because of rapping skills. For the fuck of it I checked out a few other songs and was just like "ummmmmmm no" which was my initial reaction to Gucci Gucci, minus the beat like I said. I bet we hear a lot of freestyles over it in the next few months.

Regardless of youtube views, if her deal was a good or bad deal, her lack of skills, is she fake (lol @ that comment in the rap world even meaning anything btw) and all that other shit she still got some sort of a pretty big deal (still no concrete proof how much) mostly off of one youtube video and the fact that she is marketable. Does that make her music good? To me no. But opinions are opinions and all art is subjective. Just because it's crap to me (or you) doesn't mean it's not honestly the best shit someone else has ever heard. I'm not only talking about with Kreayshawn's music either, just in general.

LMAO @ bitter ass rappers. Labels are looking for a product that they can market and they found it in her.
She is a sure shot becasue her image is on point. Props to her. Its the the music industry talent plays a very small fraction if they can't make a doll or action figure out of you than you're not getting signed.

People are ridiculous with this whole "I don't want so and so to represent for my city" lol
Cities are full all different types of people not everybody can be gangster and they should be respected for knowing their place instead of being a wanna be.

Gangster shit in the mainstream is dead that why 50cent can't sell an album and that's why Lil Wayne started dressing hipsterish.

That was V-Nasty not Kreayshawn. V-Nasty is also the only one who says nigga and I think she's mixed.

So yeah, good observation skills there.

Also lol @ acting like we all got punked by a youtube video for not being in here talking about we would have smacked her in that hypothetical situation
