I can't believe this fight is finally being made. Can Martinez deal with the 20 extra pounds of Chavez Jr and the body work. Can Chavez Jr deal with the quickiness, stamina, and hand speed of Martinez. This will be a great fight.
Kelly Pavlik weighed close to 190 pounds when Martinez beat him for the lineal championship, so yeah he should be fine.

Chavez plays right into what Martinez does best, fight from the outside. Like even if Martinez's punches dont hurt Chavez that much hes gonna pick him apart with ease, we might see that left hand special Martinez gave Williams knock Chavez the fuck out also. Ive seen technical fighters give Martinez problems, Chavez does not possess those traits.

Who u think will win? Got Em!!
I want to give the edge to Martinez he has fought and beat better fighters then Chavez Jr. But that 20lb of extra weight and body work of Chavez Jr might slow down the 37 yr old Martinez. I have Martinez pulling out a UD by winning the champion rounds. In the last year Chavez Jr has turned into a body punching monster and I'm impressed with him. Chavez Jr really put in some work in the gym and it's showing in the ring. Martinez by UD and Chavez Jr will make Sergio work for the win.

Pavlik soul was still with B-Hop after that beating he got, plus he was a drunk at the time. Good win for Martinez. But Chavez Jr is a in-shape 180lb on fight night and that's scares me, Martinez is only 157lb on fight night.

Martinez weighted in at 157.5 his last fight and there was not a unoffical weight given. Martinez walks around at about 170lb and he gains about 3-5 pounds on fight night. Martinez is not a big middle weight he's actually fighting at his natural weight 160lb. lol.. At the blind co-signers aka sideline hoes that give props even if the statment is dead wrong. SMH..

so he weighed in at 157 and because there was no unnofficial weigh in u believe he was 157 on fight night?

pull up the articles about martinez weighing 180 pounds 60 days prior to fighting paul williams.

and why are u trying to make this an issue I have no bias towards either fight. my point was Chavez's weight will not be an issue.

I don't get why anyone would say that. Martinez is the middleweight champion and hasn't fought under 160 pounds in 3 years.

But I agree it's a great fight for Floyd if they fight at 154.
People have been saying that since like 2009. And after the Mosley fight Floyd said a fight with Martinez is something he thought about. In 2010 Martinez said he would fight Floyd at 154, so I think this is a fight that should happen. Forget Cotto, forget Pac, go ahead and fight Martinez after he beats Chavez Jr.

it's a good fight I just never understood the logic of someone saying a guy is ducking another guy who's one or two weight classes above. Especially someone like floyd who've already moved up multiple weight classes in his career just to get to 147.

Stranger things have been said, but IMHO, this is another reason why there needs to be a reduction in the amount of weight classes. Yes, the guy is two weight classes above, but a lot of people were looking at the weight itself (the numbers), not the actual classes, and basing things off that. They figure, "hey whats a few pounds less or more?" Again, this goes back to what you and I discussed a year or two ago about going back to the traditional eight divisions (I say 11 would work.)

welterweight & middleweight are two of the original 8 weight classes though. There is a big difference from a welterweight fighter fighting at 160. I mean it's up to floyd if he wants to do that and that's dope if he does, I'm just saying to those who say floyd is ducking a middleweight are crazy.

And yes 11 weight classes would be dope. I'd love to see that bill get passed and have Eddie Mustafa Muhammad be the head man in charge.

Yeah, those two are part of the original eight but now you have one in between (same weight amount different name depending on the organization.) Again, Floyd entertained the possibility of fighting him before, and years ago Martinez said he would fight him at 154 (no way Floyd is making 160) so again, people were looking at the numbers (the weight) not the actual classes. You should read some of the threads on boxing forums concerning this topic and I'm talking threads from like 3 years ago regarding the possibility of them fighting. You never heard anyone talk about it? Also, I want to add this, I don't think Floyd was ducking Martinez, but it is something that both men were open to before and I think it should happen.

And Eddie Mustafa Muhammad is saying some of the same shit I said in the thread I made about judges.
