Give credit where it is due, Prior doesn't have a shot as of right now, I promise man.

7IP 3ER 11SO 0BB
here is Priors last line compare it to Schmidts

8.2 Innings, 2ER, 13K's, 1BB,

now, who would you draft with your first pick if it came down to Schmidt and Prior right now. Be honest

Thats cool, but there is nothing there to hold Prior over Schmidt.
again the only major catagory that Schmidt is ahead of Prior in is ERA and the difference is miniscule. i mean Schmidt has given up 52 ER and Prior has given up 54.

How does Prior not have a chance....lol.If anything,as time has passed since my last posts,he has made even more of a legitimate claim as baseballs best pitcher. You need to seperate your love of your idols from reality. No shot..lol

You have to understand one thing. As much as CZAR throws the word around, I hold absolutely no bias when I talk about sports. If we're having a conversation about top tier players, and one of them is on my team, your going to hear about it. You were present last year on these forums, and I was saying the same thing about Schmidt when NO ONE else saw it. I called this shit out of the dark and let me tell you what, if he finish's second in this race, I still think that is one hell of a prediction. Now about the question you asked. I think that not only is Prior a better pitcher the Schmidt, but I would take him over Jason in a HEARTBEAT if I had the chance. There is no doubt in my mind that he is a better skilled pitcher. All of the talk going on this year is about the Cy Young award, which is not a life time acheivement. This is one single season, and when I look at the numbers and performances, I see that Jason Schmidt has been the better pitcher. If I knew he could do it season after season, then maybe I would ponder the first pick, but let's face it, how many guys have been successful (to the standards we're discussing) throughout their entire career's with a fastball and a change-up. He will have a great career, he will put up great numbers, but overall, Prior is undoubtidly the better pitcher.

Gagne will win it, but I really think they should consider giving out a seperate award for closers. I like Joe Morgan's philosophy--i'll find the article he wrote on awards this year.
