How can he apply the samething to JaMarcus Russell when JaMarcus wasn't even signed until week 2 of the regular season?.
No one is trying to compare the two. The raider fans keep bringing that up. He said Alex Smith was a bust because he wasnt ready to go his first year. THAT WAS SAID BY A RIADER FAN, NOT ME. All I was saying is if that makes alex smith a bust then hold J Russell to the same standard.

Alex Smith was signed right after he was drafted. He played in pre-season and couldn't even beat out Rattay. LOL.
LOL @ J Russell now being able to beat out McCown. A 21 year old QB is never going to beat out a QB that knows and has already in the system. Nice try tho.....

KOOL_AID is just saying when you're drafted number 1 overall you gotta be ready to contribute right away (assuming you got your contract situation out of the way).
How many QB's at the age of 21 can contribute right away? Can you show me the stats on that? So the only reason why J Russell cant contribute is because of a holdout? So during those weeks during the holdout, he was just sitting on his ass playing Madden?

This is Alex Smith's 3rd year and so far he's not looking like he was picked number one overall..
He never shouldve been picked at number 1. He was the best QB and wouldnt have been there at 33. So the niners had to take a chance, and roll the dice and pick the best QB. Kinda remind you of your new team the raiders huh? I wouldve rather taken Edwards and waited for the next draft but Im not the GM.

Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, Jay Cutler, even Vince Young are all playing better than Smith right now.
AND EVERY SINGLE player you listed is OLDER then Alex Smith RIGHT NOW. And how many of those QB's got drafted to the worst team in the NFL?

He might be a bust but its to early to tell right now......

I thought the Niners should have taken Merriman since it was Mike Nolan's first year (correct me if I am wrong) as head coach and he was in the process of installing his version of the 3-4 defense.
Merriman wasnt who he is today during that draft. Its easy to say that today.

I dont see where you guys are gettin the bust from...Obviously there were big expectations this year and so far we haven't seen any improvement. I'd say hes been disappointing so far but its not all his fault. The recievers aren't running routes like they should be, a few catchable balls have been dropped. Its more of a whole team issue for the niners offense rite now and not just Alex Smith.

If at the end of the year, Smith's numbers look the same as they do today...maybe we can start talkin about bust but I dont agree with calling him a bust rite now...

Aight, cool, we'll see how his stats are at the end of the season. I say bust so far... but we'll see if you'll agree by the end of the season.

I just think that if the Raiders had drafted Alex Smith and he put up the same numbers in a Raiders uniform most of y'all would be calling him a bust.

I haven't noticed 9ers fans really say any Raiders have been busts even though we know many are.

He's getting penalties here and there like false starts but I don't think he's been playing too bad. I think he's been moved to guard. He doesn't look comfortable at tackle being on an island against premier pass rushers.... he has short arms. But I don't think he's been playing too bad though. I could see why critics call him a bust though because he was picked 2nd overall so he should be able to handle those pass rushers at the tackle spot.
