X-men was weak cuz I was a fan of the comics and have a deep appreciation for movies – they failed as quality movies and failed the comic book test – giving Wolverine some metal claws and some serious chops does not = passing the test.

Spiderman has always been gay no matter what the medium. The first two were better than the X-men movies both from comic & movie perspective. Third one was lamer than any of the X-men movies both from comic & movie perspective.

Iron Man was so dope because an Iron Man comics fan could take someone who doesn't know anything about Iron Man to go see it and they would both enjoy it. I don’t feel any of the aforementioned could match that.

Iron Man was more of an adult movie than Spiderman – like I said how many times have you seen a human catch a bullet to the forehead and die in any marvel movies? It goes to my personal tastes as an adult American male I guess, but in honesty that is one of the reasons it ranks among the best with the likes of Batman and Sin City.

As an origins story, from pacing aspects, from special effects aspects, scripting, and acting it was greater than Spiderman 1 & 2.

Good enough for non-fans of the source material out for some lobotomy style "entertainment" phoned in by supposed quality "actors".

X-men movies = Alien Vs Predator with big names

I'd be happy to let it go if anyone would offer any valid reasoning that forms basis for their opinions or justification for believing them (spiderman or x-men) to be better movies than Iron Man.

I’ve offered numerous reasons to justify my position.

Maybe because they enjoyed them more? Why is that so hard to grasp?

Thats like asking someone why they like Fruit Loops over Capt'n Crunch...they just DO. Its called PREFERENCE.

Did you like Iron Man? Yes? Than who cares what others think. All that matters is that YOU enjoyed it. It shouldnt matter that another person found it not nearly as pleasing as you did.

Thank you, Rictus. I was having this same discussion with someone at work today and they offered nothing other than "It had a lot of good characters", but what they meant was "It had a lot of people in it that looked like they knew what they were doing".

People develop preferences for a reason. If you are unable to convey how you arrive at your opinion/preference then it loses validity - especially in a discussion such as this. There are tangible and, to a degree, measurable criteria that need to be taken into account. I have provided numerous examples that lead me to arrive at my preference, yet no one who holds opposite opinions has done the same.

If you like fruit loops over cap'n crunch you have a reason for it. You prefer the texture, the fruit flavor rather than peanut butter, you like that they get soggy faster; you find them to be a better part of your complete breakfast, etc. If you just say "Nah man fruit loops is tha shit fuck da cap'n that shit ain't crunch", but never offer any reasoning for your position it's not valid.

If you're a comic book fan, you'd also be proud of the many allusions they used in the film to possibly lead into the next film. Example: The ten rings; needing a second suit; Nick Fury.
i still havent seen the iron man movie, i think imma take the kids next week.. but does the ten rings = mandarin in the upcoming movie?? i also heard they are making a namor movie for 2010.. hopefully they dont trash it because namor is a dope ass character..

In theory, yes, The Ten Rings should be a part of Mandarin's character, but in this film that's the name of the terrorist sect that kidnaps Stark. It wouldn't be very difficult to link Mandarin and other characters that helped in the kidnapping together for the second film. There were other allusions, but those were really the only ones I remembered.

LOL! Cmon CB, now youre just stretching to levels of argueing for no reason. Why do i like turkey over roast beef? Becuase TURKEY TASTE BETTER. I prefer the TASTE of turkey, over the TASTE of roast beef. Nothing more. That is called a PREFERENCE. There is no other reasoning behind it other than the taste of turkey out weighs the taste of roast beef.

But again, why do you CARE so goddamn much if people like one movie more than another? Anytime someone goes against your movie taste, you FREAK THE FUCK OUT. Why? Is it that hard to grasp that someone has a DIFFERENT opinion than you? You never answered the question the first time, i guess I shouldnt expect you to answer it again.

I understand that you have a HIGH mark for movies and consider yourself an EXPERT on films. However, sometimes your arrogance takes over your rationality to just say "fuck it, you liked it, I didnt". Dont be a douche bag movie critic like so many are, please...it takes the air out of simple enjoyment for a movie.

If everyone liked the exact same shit, it would be a boring and predictable world. You couldnt carry on debates like this one and threads on here would be about 12 posts long.

You like Iron Man. It entertained you. Someone else liked X-Men or Spider-Man 3 becuase it entertained them MORE than Iron Man. WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK.

For someone so intelligent, you sure do have a hard time understanding simple concepts like opinions and preferences.

lol. Fucking owned again.
Who got owned? You cant "own" anyone over an opinion. Are you gonna own me when we debate why ICP is one of the worst "rap" groups ever?
