^^^theres a huge fuckin difference between a spanking, and whippin their ass with an electrical cord. But, theres also a huge difference in the way in which people were brought up, and level of physical punishment which they deem acceptable...

I can honestly say this man went over the top whoopin his girls' asses like that, but i cant be mad at him for showing that he is tryin to instill some sort of discipline onto his children. Now, i also want to say that there is a chance this dude is just plain being an abusive woman hater, and if thats the case, i apologize, but who knows for sure???

I dont have any kids so im not the most qualified, but here is my 2 cents...

That parent was full of rage when he hit those kids. That dude has anger issues and that beating didnt have anything to do with those girls dancing. Im not totally against giving kids a smack when they truly deserve it, but it should never be done out of anger. That dude should have calmed the fuck down and delivered the beating when he had a cool head. That shit wasnt parenting, it was straight up abuse. The second girls screams sent a shiver down my spine, that aint right no matter how you look at it...

I'm not 100% against spankings (although I don't spank my son), but using anything besides your hand is super fucked. Shea is right. There are tons of studies on the subject and basically if you beat your kid you're just exposing them to violence as a means to solve problems. I've noticed first hand that explaining to my son why what he did was wrong and taking things away from him does wonders.

I think theres pro's and con's.. I agree with both sides in a way.. Yes I am a father of two... Yes I was whipped in my elementary years, once in middle school... I been hit with random objects , chaclas, broom sticks, electrical cords, water hose and of course the old fashion belt whoopin... I don't agree with those extremes that was a little too much.. Especially that I was never talked to or told it was wrong. I grew up terrified of my father When ever he got home from work I knew to shut up and stay under the radar... I don't ever want my kids to grow up like that.... I try to be as involved with them as I can .. Im like they're freaking hero right now... I always tell them right from wrong but they won't always listen.. I'll hit them from time to time but not with random shit around the house.. For example Ive told them plenty of times when two adults are talking or I'm on the phone to simply be quiet or go to your room.. Now if they want to be screaming bloody murder while I'm the phone I will slap them in the mouth one time.. Ive done this twice and they haven't done it since. So I found it quite effective...
Studies show that there are no real "pros" to corporal punishment of children.

Fucc yo studies nigga!!! Every person is different!!!
You can't group mothafuccas just cuz the majority is one way!!!
Every person is different, but that has nothing to do with how "whoopinz" effect children. Because they are still learning, it has the same effect on all of them. They way they externally vent that can vary, but thats about it.

Again, there are no pros to corporal punishment and sorry, people that are smarter than all of us have provided empirical evidence to prove it. IN fact, abuse in all facets have shown nothing but long term negative effects, including verbal...which may be the worst of them all (besides sexual of course).

I disagree!!!
I caught ass whoop'n's with everything from extension cords to switches from the lemon tree. From shoes to belts!!!

I believe it has made me a stronger man then i would be, and i learned from
those ass whoopins!!!
Whenever i started to act out, i was put in my place with a swat and best
believe i got some get right on the spot!!!

Now, i'm a somewhat of a successful man with a wonderful family
and a wonderful life!!!

I gotta say this tho... I caught some beatings over the years. Very over-the-top, aggression from outside shit, & rage filled, ...."abusive", but that really sounds like a pansy word coming from a man raised by a woman, but that woman could hit, with various objects....

anyways, I got boys & vowed I wouldnt discipline like my mom did.

they aint ever, EVER gotten a beating with an inanimate object & never will.

if your words & methods of discipline do not work as a parent, it is the PARENT doing something wrong.... no kid deserves an electrical cord used on them as a beating device.
My mom whipped the shit out of me with a tree limb, and she's a great parent.

I needed it, and that was the way it got through to me.

I don't know how you could hit your own children like that when you love them. Only way I see it is, that the father is a) not the smartest, b) alcoholic, c) lazy, d) was abused himself when he was a child.
Spanking your child is the easy way to get your kids back in line. It's more difficult to set rules and make them follow these on an everyday basis, as well as acting yourself according to it and not letting your children get exposed to things that will influence them in a bad way. I think that is almost impossible to do, so you have to explain rights and wrongs to your children.
I have spanked my son. Not with an object and only his butt. This only happens after some warnings. I'm his best buddy, but he also respects me.
It's not easy being a parent, and I salute every one of you guys that manage to bring up your kids without beatings and try your hardest to raise them right. Props
