I have only recently been listening to some horrorcore music, growing up ICP was the definition of horrorcore, and after listening to one or two songs i stupidly stereo typed the sound. Since then, ive been trying to follow more styles that i enjoy and Grewsums sound is one of those. Problem is, grew never answers the aims, and i cant find anywhere to get his music. Anyone wanna hook it up? Sides the one song above?

I definitely agree that anyone who does horrorcore only, and claims to be completely real with it, is full of shit. Or atleast the majority. Brotha Lynch's brother Sicx got put in prison for molesting his kids, and X Raided is in prison for murder. So I can kinda believe that they really did fucked up shit that they rap about it. lol

I have pretty much every ever done by almost every rapper mentioned in this thread. Well over 20,000 songs in general, a LOT of it horrorcore, or related.

I guess so

"Sacramento rapper, Triple Sicx has been arrested, along with his girlfriend Aniva Jamieson on 69 felony counts of repeated child molestation, rape and photographing two young girls, one of them allegedly the rapper's daughter. If convicted the rapper and his girlfriend could face over 400 years in jail."

Horrorcore is broke down really easy:
Its entertainment. Music is the same as movie genres. You have fictional, Love stories, etc. etc. Horrorcore is the horror movie version of music.
Its entertainment, period.
People don't watch horror movies because they think the shit may have really happened. Same for people who listen to horrorcore/acid rap/death rap/wickid shit (what ever you want to call it) Its because some people like it.

And the best horrorcore artists IMO are:
-Mars
-Lo Key
-Esham
-Natas
-BLH
-Twiztid
-Necro
yes alot of people watch more horror movies about actually incidents then watching fantasy horror movies (except alot of teens)

so Tech N9ne, at times, is a fake? Nah, music doesn't have to be "real". Hip-Hop is pretty much the only genre where this shit comes up. I think its just silly really.

I don't doubt that Soulja likes to dance - I also don't doubt that he likes his own music. The issue with Soulja Boy (and with most Horrorcore rappers) is that they are crap rappers, it doesn't really have anything to do with him wanting money. He's clearly rapping to make money (something I don't think can be said about the horrorcore dudes as if they are doing it to get money they are fucking idiots) but theres nothing wrong with that. Jay-Z is rapping to get money as well - always has been. Thats not to say his stuff doesn't come out of love or that it never started out as just fun for him, but its no secret that him and Dame started the ROC in order to make money because the mainstream heads wern't giving him a deal. Also, staying with him, in a sense Jay-Z is even faker than Horrorcore, he said it himself with the lines "Truthfully / I wanna rhyme like Common Sense" suggesting he doesn't even make what he wants to make. His music may be grounded more in real life but if he's not making what he really would have liked to then surely thats faker than some lil white kid who wants to make music under the guise of a horrific character as so goes and does so (lol, I know thats a stretch of an argument but still)

It's just a sub-genre name used for clarification. It's just like the terms Crunk, G-Funk, Hyphy, Hardcore, Gangsta Rap, Emo Rap, Backpack, etc, etc.

Although I do agree with you to a point because some Horrorcore acts don't see themselves as being part of Hip-Hop, which is just short-sighted.
i cant stand jay-z, swagga jacker

no im not saying since you make fantasy rap your fake theres a line between being fake and telling a story, so don't get it twisted

no tech is not fake just cause he has a fantasy track almost every artist has one, there is a line between telling a story and claiming that you do something that you don't or are something that you are not plz don't get it twisted

Why is it good that horrorcore rap exists?

1. There's all types of rap out there, to appeal to all kinds of people.
2. There's a subgenre of horror in punk and metal, for an example, and since rap is looked at as a radical form of musical expression, why not have a subgenre like that here as well?
3. Not bad having a darker, harder form of rap besides that gangsta stuff. And so what if it's based mainly on fantasy? We see "real" everytime we walk out the house, we don't ALWAYS need to hear about that shit. Just like rap fans who are God fearing and do claim a religion don't really want to hear "Christian rap".

There's good and bad horror rap. Alot of it's cheesy, with the subject matter and the "monster" voices and all that...just like the cheesy "it's so bad it's good" B-movie horror fare. But there's also good, solid horror rap that's dark, riveting, and attention grabbing. And I'm a hip-hop dude so I like coming across those who can do horror and still come across as a above average lyricist.

i guess it really depends on your taste in music and how you view it to like it or not, cause in my eyes i really don't enjoy fantasy rap, cause i like to listen to shit i can relate to or feel and believe, and deep lyrical stuff that makes you think thats just me though

It's just for fun, and shizz.

It's not for everyone, but it's not "fantasy rap"
It's like Bones said, it's like a horror movie in musical form.

Fantasy Rap is when Lil' Wayne says "BEST RAPPER ALIVE!" in his songs.
[Shazzam]

"Don't get it twisted"
Please stop saying that. Lmao.

I've talked to GrewSum on AIM before.

I asked him about that Tech track, and he's just sitting on it, and can't use it.
All I Know...

Whenever I get some money on my card, I'm buying DarkFlow 2.0
Hit me on AIM dude, Ill send you Darkflow if you want. Grew wont get any money for it (if you're wanting to support him by buying it). You hooked me up a few months back with that Phatso cd..
And you'll love Darkflow if you haven't heard it before. And I've talked to Grew on AIM a lot.. He also posts on here.. so send him a Pm or keep trying AIM.

Yeah.. I totally forgot about Gordy.. fuck.

And yes, Ill Bill has done plenty of horrorcore music. So I for sure would cast him into that group, but he can't be pigeonheld into it.

I dislike horrorcore because their voices annoy me. I like rap that can relate to me "IN real life" thats something i think horrorcore cant do. And most of the horrorcore i have heard has a horrible beat selection
