You don't put something they can choke on in their mouth. You put something they can bite down on.

Also your explaination did not explain the reasoning. A controled area? :-/ I asked WHY ARE YOU NOT SUPPOSED TO HOLD THEM DOWN! Not what do you do if you decide not to. Did you catch it?

how much time do u really have if a person is goin into this? honestly, controlling the area? in some situations there isnt enof time for this..if im in a car with my bro and he has a seizure, then im gunna pull over and hold him until it stops..not just let him convulse and hit himself..i dont care what the book says because in reality u may not have that choice..

Ok, look my brother has had seizures in the shower before. So instead of letting him injure himself by hitting his head on the faucet I've had to move him to the other side of the tub. You're just supposed to make the area safe for them to go through the seizure. By holding them down and restricting their movements you can cause them to break bones.

I don't appreciate your sarcasm, Alicia. Not mature enough for this coversation because nothing you post supports your statement.

Once again I do not see it saying that you are not suppose to hold them down because they will "break bones" as you said. Support what you said. That link does say not to hold them down, but where is the explanation to why?

I think that is all true, Spook.

I had to take a health class in college and teacher was saying that you need to clear them a lot space and put a pillow or something under their head.

I dont know if this was said already but you shouldnt put anything in their mouth because it can cause them to gag or choke with all the flailing they do

Jesus Christ, James. You're telling me to pretend it's a paper for class and I can't call you "Professor Spooky"? You're odd. Anyway... think about it, Spookster. If someone is having a convulsive seizure and they're jerking around and you're holding them down with force to restrain them there is a possibility that they will have a broken bone because of this.

Here's another link. This one actually says holding a person down may cause broken bones, although it doesn't say why.

Yeah, especially the part where it said "Time the seizure with your watch" LOL. I woulda figured you just let the seizure happen & try to keep them from hitting something hard or sharp. I aint a doc or anything near it, but I figure if you held them down you're gonna hurt yourself & especially them with all the frantic swinging & convulsing around, you might catch a headbutt in the nose or accidentally choke them or something.

Like I said though, that's just what I figure.

As an epileptic, I can say everything DFDOOM and Licia are telling you is the truth. My wife comes to all my appointments with me, and my NEUROLOGIST tells her the same shit. DONT restrain. DONT stick things in the mouth, or even try to open the mouth.

well this dont mean anything in a situation i am referring to...a car...if my bro hits his head on the dash then obviously im not gunna pull out the papers the dr gave me or read on it, im gunna react! if ur strapped down in a seatbelt and your bout to fall over a cliff because u lose control of the car, you react! u unbuckle it and jump....

my brother hasnt suffered any broken bones and he has been restrained slightly many of times so im not listening to any of this...the end
