I feel you cuzzo I see a lot of that north/south shit in the Socal and BART forums and I think its retarded. I lived in both regions and we have a lot more in common than we think but you dont see that until you move away from the West Coast.
Snoop is obviously very successful but I wouldnt be surprised if he made more money from endorsing gum and deordorant than he did from his albums. Snoop is an icon of hip hop but I think his best days are over with. I dont see why it is now Snoop's message to UNITE the West Coast. I didnt hear Snoop giving it up for Keak Da Sneak, Quinn, Mitchy and other rappers 3-4 years ago when they were STRUGGLIN to get radio play...
Now I seen Big Von basically risk his career as an executive producer/radio host in the Bay on KMEL to change the format and play more music and now both Bay Area radio stations AND Sacramento stations play Bay Area music. I seen Battle Loco fuckin with the Federation. I see WC, Loco and the Liks fuckin with a remix of "Only Wear my White Tee Once." I see Xzibit and SAS workin with Mitchy Slick. Game workin with Ya Boy and Clyde Carson. I seen San Quinn fuckin with Socal Producers, Quinn and Ya Boy fuckin with Roscoe. I seen socalled "backpacking" artists from Cali like Zion I and Casual from Hieroglyphics fuckin with "gangsta rap" artists.
I guess my point is: where was Snoop's roll in this unification? What has Snoop done to help put California on the map besides songs with the Pussy Cat Dolls and Justin Timberlake and a solo album with Pharrel produced singles? Why wasnt there more West Coast production? Why is 50 Cent, Nelly and Lil Jon all on Snoops last album and the only West Coast artist is Soopafly? Are San Quinn, Keak, and Mitchy Slick not talented enough...or...were they not "HOT" like they are now? How is that Dogg Pound album selling? What exactly happened at this west coast summit Snoop had to advance the cause?
