yeah I like what I see from Forte. Like Madden says, he doesn't look like a rookie and has confidence of a guy that's been in the league for years. BTW, he's the first Chicago bear to debut with over 100+ yards. Not just a rookie either, out of anyone. That's pretty crazy if you think about the history of bears running backs.

yo, tough loss. Should have had that game. Winning up 'till the very end.

But on the flip side, da bears are the only team in the NFL to have the first two games being ROAD games. So for them to go 1-1 against the Colts in Indy and Panthers in Carolina isn't bad at all. Forte had another solid game. Kyle Orton is going to need to throw a TD pass eventually here and start taking more chances.

Yo, really excited about the upcoming game against Tampa. Gruden has this quote about Chicago's defense...

DIFFERENT D: The Bears will have a significantly different look on defense Sunday. They still are, at their core, a Cover 2 defense. But they have added a significant wrinkle that teams are having difficultly adjusting to, Gruden said. Mostly, Chicago is lining up a host of defenders near the line of scrimmage, leaving the offense to try to decipher which players are blitzing or dropping into coverage. "I don't see any similarities, none, zero," Gruden said. "It looks like an 11-up defense every snap. (Lance) Briggs and (Brian) Urlacher and all the linebackers and safeties are on the line of scrimmage. They have had tremendous success. It's the rage of the league right now. Everybody's talking about them."

As a bear fan, that's something you got to be excited about! There D has looked great this year so far and to hear Gruden talk about how confusing it is for offenses to deal with is a great compliment.

Hester's status a mystery; Bears weigh options

September 18, 2008
BY BRAD BIGGS [email protected]

Devin Hester's rib-cage injury remained a mystery Wednesday, when he was held out of practice and rookie Earl Bennett was prepped for a possible role as the punt returner Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Hester, the Bears' record-setting return man who has not missed a game in his career, has said he feels fine and expects to play, but the team is not going to place its most valuable offensive weapon in jeopardy for the rest of the season by rushing him onto the field. Since 2006, no Bear has scored more touchdowns than Hester, who did an end-around through Halas Hall to avoid reporters after practice.

His injury is believed to be to muscle or cartilage and will heal only with time. It's possible the Bears would use him only on special teams; coach Lovie Smith maintained his policy that a player doesn't have to practice to play.

''Game time, if he's ready to go, he'll be on the field,'' Smith said.

Danieal Manning will take over as the kickoff returner if Hester cannot go. Manning led the league in kickoff returning in the preseason and is eager to step in.

''[Special-teams coordinator Dave] Toub is a mastermind,'' Manning said. ''The guys that we have on [special teams], they're playing with so much confidence. We know what we have, and we just believe in it. Somehow, it just always works.''

Who will return punts is less clear. Nathan Vasher is the most sure-handed option, but the Bears saw last year what missing him for 12 games because of injury did to the defense.

Bennett, a third-round pick who was inactive for the first two games, returned a punt for a touchdown in the preseason but also had issues catching the ball. Smith said Vasher's status on defense would not weigh in the decision.

Bennett would be the logical choice to be active in place of Hester if he sits, unless the Bears want to go with another defensive tackle. The Bucs are expected to try to pound the ball with running backs Earnest Graham and Warrick Dunn.

lol at the neckbeard pic in your sig. Manning looked really good returning kickoffs and Hester still hasn't shown anything as a receiver so I'm not too worried. Galloway's out for the Bucs so hopefully we lay down a nice ass whooping.

Another game decided by the refs, fucking gay.

On the bright side Orton may have found his favorite target with Lloyd. Seems like a good match since Orton under throws everything and Lloyd can't catch it unless he's jumping or diving
