Laser guns are dope once modded, like the laser sniper rifle. Laser Pistol with the beam splitter for close range. I don't really like The Institute laser weapons though, I don't fuck with those usually sell them by the bulk. The Plasma rifle is powerful too but I haven't came across too much plasma ammo yet so I keep that at the pad.

I never built a windmill generator

I made a couple windmill generators to set up settlement recruitment beacons before I had the supply lines and supplies to just make a bunch of regular ones, other than that they're pointless and take up space

For role-playing purposes. Maybe you are the type to think it's unrealistic for people in a post apocalyptic world to have unlimited fuel to keep generators pumping 24/7. Or maybe the smog and shit pumping out of those things bothers you because you think your settlers shouldn't be exposed to it living like smokers in that movie kevin kostner movie Waterworld lol. Or maybe you prefer it because it's quiet and you'd rather listen to the ambient noise and music in the game vs listening to that thing chug and make a ton of noise 24/7. Also aesthetics; maybe it appeals visually to you. I dunno that's what i came up with in a couple minutes lol. As far as min / maxing and typical vidya game mentality goes, it is a waste.

I read earlier that having generators close to your house or beds where settlers sleep decreases your overall settlement happiness; wind power doesn't do that.

I also read that there was another mechanic involved with generators that was removed before release: fuel. You would actually have to refill your generators with fuel, and keep a constant supply of fuel. They removed it because that sounded fucking way too tedious and retarded I'm guessing.

If you want to build a green farm or a non-polluted / quiet farm there's plenty of mods out already that allow you to do a ton of extra settlement stuff, like build way more stuff, expand the limited scope of settlements, actually makes wind power useful, other shit.
