Matthew Hatton Accepts Fight With Saul Alvarez

Sources report that European welterweight champion Matthew Hatton has accepted a fight with hot Mexican prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, possibly on March 5 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Hatton was the second option after handlers of WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko allegedly rejected a $550,000 offer. HBO have reserved that date for a ‘Boxing After Dark’ show and there is also a chance of a bout between Michael Katsidis and Robert Guerrero.

Rumor:

Alvarez vs. Mayorga this June

"Earlier today Primerahora reported Ricardo Mayorga had been offered "two easy fights" and then he will have the "hard ones". Ricardo Mayorga is also saying that he is not going to retire just yet.

Reporter Rick Glaser has broke the news that a Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Ricardo Mayorga is in the beginning stages of being put together. The fight will be live on HBO Boxing PPV June 18. The fight would be the main event of the card."

i think canelo will be fighting Ryan Rhodes, who is currently #4 at light middleweight according to the The Ring. That's a solid fight for him and it's good he's defending his title against a top 5 guy.

For those unfamiliar, Ryan Rhodes is from the UK, he's 45-4 last loss was in 2007, he won a WBC title eliminator so he actually deserves a title shot.

^~~ That's good news. Rhodes should've got his shot a while ago and has been trying to get a fight against anyone who'd take it against him. He was actually an underdog against Moore when he beat him to earn his shot. Good fight for Canelo to take..

This thread is sort of a fail, Alvarez didnt live up to expectations in that Hatton fight. Even my friends were talking about it and they dont quite follow fighters even as much as me and im not nearly a hardcore boxing fan like some of yall.

yeah well I think a 20 year old is allowed a fight like that, a fight he won just about every single round. the only disappoint was he didn't knock him out.

most 20 year old's are still in the amateurs. This kid is already a certified star in Mexico and becoming one here (the ratings for Canelo-hatton were just as good as the highest rated boxing event so far this year).
