I always hear people say they want these artist to do music that sounded like there old stuff but besides those artist you like to hear when is the last time you heard those producers you want them to work with beats? maybe they dont get down like they use to. How come nobody else works with those old mobb sound producers? Cant always place the blame on the artist sometimes its the beats that are not up to far. What I do know is I challenge you to name a bad song that 40 AND RICK ROCK have done together. Rick Rock is still bringing that muthafuckin slap

If you dont like this new E-40 album then I dont know what you want to listen to then.

I love "The Ball Street Journal"! I can't understand why some cats are saying it wasn't as good as his older shit? I have been knockin' 40 Water since his first solo "Federal" and The Click's "Down & Dirty"! All I can think is these certain cats are stuck in the 90's and don't know how to move on.
Anyway, my favorite on the album now is "Got Rich Twice" with Turf Talk. The thing about 40 is he is way ahead of his time with every album. I seem to move to a new track on his current album every other month as my favorite. His music is so quality and put together with so much creativity that I dissect it slowly... I remember when I first bought this album my favorite track was "Alcoholism", then "Hustlin", then "I Can Sell It", etc...
Like I said earlier... Quit living in the past!!! I'm looking forward to some more of this newer creative 40 Water shit...

I feel you 100% .I've been a fan of 40 for a long time and I've love the old mob sound.I feel if the producers still have that old sound and can't give 40 the sound that he's looking for, then yeah he should work with other producers. I think a lot of people including myself would just like to see him work with the producers that contributed to his early success like the Studio Tons, Mike Mosleys and the Sam Bostics. They are all musicians so I know that they don't have a problem switching up their sound. You're right about not blaming the artist if the beats aren't up to par but if the beats aren't up to par that just makes the artist look bad for jumpin on a weak ass beat.

A lot of times, the way hip-hop is, and I’m not griping, but I just feel like I’m way way way ahead of my time. I know people think I’m wack. Like a lot of cats on the East Coast think I’m wack, and the reason is because you can’t comprehend what you don’t know. And if you don’t know, how can you comprehend it? You know what I mean? It goes over their heads like a flying saucer.

that is the really real my friends. ive been hearing all this shit comin out on the radio, and not alot of folx can do wut forty does. i hear rappers like lil wayne n kanye, n wut they do that people like is the similies n metaphors they use. but its jus that...who can come up with better metaphors...n its jus thrown in the rap to sound good. no story telling skills. kanye n wayne did a song a few yrs ago called barry bonds, pretty dope song but listening to wat they say it was like i was back in grammar class "my drank still pinker than the easter rabbit, stove on my waist turn beef to patties" this is where the teacher ask "similie or metaphor?" the lines r coo but there is relly no meaning behind it. forty has the metaphors n uses em for what they are n actually keeps em in line to what the mood or reason behind the song. theres reason behind it. forty is in a class of his own, hes one of the only rappers today, to really utilize rap for what its meant to be and keeping it at its roots. storytelling.

Well, right now, I am really feelin the latest album from Certified, entitled, "The Underworld". Some mob ass beats on there. I think if a group from Spokane Washington can come up with some mob ass beats, I think 40 waters can, too. But 40 waters is on some other shit and seems to want to impress the 90s babies or some shit. So fuck it. That's just me, though.
