So you mean to tell me that Chuck Berry & Little Richard were blues musicians? I think not. They created rock and roll.

Then white dudes immulated the styles. Don't believe me?

Paul McCartney, memeber of the greatest rock band of all time, has said over and over that he copied Little Richards style. Not only that, but "Twist and Shout" was an Isley Bros hit way before the Beatles, and yes the Isleys were all rock back then.

Eric Clapton, considered one of the greatest rock/blues guitarists, has said that "rock n roll came from black musicians." Research that quote.

Everyone knows that Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis ripped off black music and refined it for white masses. Becuase until a white man performed it, it was "the devils music." Jerry Lee's biopic shows this in detail.

Not to mention that the greatest guitar player, a backup guiitarist for early rock musicians Isley Bros, turned out to be a black man, Jimi Hendrix. His style has been emulated all over the place in rock music.

How come you guys just don't recognize the facts. Black people created rock, just like they created blues, jazz, soul, r&B, rap. Yall created metal rock, thats yours.
I know for a fact that they were blues musicians who eventually made a transition into the world of rock 'n' roll in the mid 1950's. However, country music has been going on since the late 1920’s, a music genre that has numerous similarities to the rock music we know today. That's not saying Little Richard was singing country music, or that he was emulating the style, but to say that it had nothing to do with the creation of rock 'n' roll would be absurd. There is no doubt in my mind that they played a significant role in the evolution of rock ‘n’ roll, but if you were well researched on what you talk about, you would have come up with a couple of different names other then Little Richard and Chuck Berry my friend. It goes much deeper than what the media will have you believe. Go look up Jackie Brenston (Or even Ike Turner) and Bill Haley, both of whom were performing rock ‘n’ roll before Berry and Richard. Tell me why, if Little Richard created rock ‘n’ roll, that Rolling Stone has credited the first rock album ever to Jackie Brenston? The answer: Because people like you are quick to believe a widely spread notion based on a bias opinion. There are people on this board (I won’t mention any names) who if you told them **INSERT FAKE NAME HERE*** (who is a black person) created rock ‘n’ roll, they would soak it up and believe it, then spread it like a disease; that is “bias” for you. EXAMPLE: This cat said “AMEN” to your post, when he didn’t even realize that your facts are incorrect.

Here is something else to consider. Bill Haley and The Comets were formed in 1949; they contained a singer, bass player, guitar player, and a piano player. You remember this band don’t you? “One, Two, Three ‘O’ Clock, Four ‘O’ Clock Rock”. Yeah, you remember them. How can you not give any credit? This band (known as the first rock band in history) started when Little Richard was singing in talent shows.

I believe that Paul McCartney followed a style laid out by Little Richard and so have plenty of others, including Elvis Presley. I don’t see how musicians coming out after Little Richard (especially in the 60’s) has anything to do with the creation of rock ‘n’ roll in the early to mid 50’s. People respect Little Richard, they like his music, and some choose to follow in his foot step, that’s great, really. Richard didn’t start rock ‘n’ roll, he added flavor to it, helping to mold it. So why did he get so much recognition? First of all, he was African American, and second, he played one of the biggest roles in shaping this genre of music.

Then you want to say that Elvis Presley ripped off BLACKS by singing the blues and rock 'n' roll? Who are you to say anyone ripped off a music genre from someone else when you can't even correctly tell the people on this board, who the first rock band or rock artist even was. There is no music genre in this world that belongs to any single race, and if you believe otherwise (as your comment of ripping off has clearly shown) then you are just trying to separate blacks and whites by delegating ownership. You’re saying something such as a genre of music—which is multi-cultural—can belong to only humans that fit into a certain race category? PLEASE. Nothing was ripped off. Music (or any genre of) doesn’t belong to black people, this IS NOT something that can be ripped off.

Jimi Hendrix was a great guitar player, one of the best, but not necessarily better than anyone else in history. There are guitar players now that could play Hendrix tabs in their sleep. Hendrix was the first great guitar player and the originator of a new style of hard cord playing, but don’t get stuck living in the past because there is nothing that says he is the greatest ever. I don’t see how he is any better than Slash from Guns ‘n’ Roses, do you?

Like I said in my previous post, it all depends on how you define rock music.
