I think having the voting be internet only shuts out a BIG section of Bay Area music fans. Not all of the people who support the Bay Area scene are internet junkies, and a lot of people who I talk to have never even heard of the BARS awards.

Shit, for the right price, you can use my garage for damn near anything.

A good idea would be to have 'voting stations' set up at Ameoba, Rasputins, The Street Show locations, etc., as well as having ballots in magazines, or even as CD inserts. If there was a few nice corporate sponsors and some real money put behind this, it could be huge.

I doubt it cuz mainstream fans don't know what the hell a BARS award is. I think real bay area fans vote in this thing. If its not based on who has the most myspace friends on their page i think it will be legit

Nasty Nia you hit it on the nose, I was real curious why there was not a Best Graphic Designer or Best Photographer category. With the Bay Area music scene always having had such a large focus on our visual presentation of our product and always having been trendsetters in this area also, I'm surprised that some of the people who make it happen were not recognized. Photo Doctor, Essqubed, even myself for designers. D-Ray, Clifton and Photo Doctor again could be included in photographers.

People dont vote themselves in. And Numb got nominanted for song of the year, cuz that song "I got Grapez!" hella went...

Why would someone "kiss ass" to get a BARS award? No offense, but we are not talking about a Grammy,Oscar or something like that. Be for real. Yes, its an honor to be nominated by your city/or area youre from, but who is willing to go thru politics for all of that?

I think you're putting way too much on that song. The song was o.k. i think i heard it once. I thought his name was Nump not Numb.

Right Doxx, let big wigs pick the artists for the categories, fans vote. When 4080 did it, there were a lot less artists than now. But had great results I'm sure. By the way I have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BARS AWARDS, NOTHING!!!! I just voted like loyal fan. C-4 was right, we need a graphic designer and photographer award....

why wasnt san quinn under best hip hop artist,or best underground artist.

these catagories and people that are in it are kinda fucked up,but hey,thats just my opinion and if i cant be real on the internet where else can i be real at.

dj juice should have been in the catagory for "best dj in the mix" aint no other dj out in the bay doin it like him.

would have voted for yaboy under "hottest new artist" but he wasnt in there.


the event looks like its gonna turn out good,when is it btw? i heard the last 1 was phat,wasnt it on nob hill? couldnt make it but dis year im deff tryin to go

song of the year should be "So young so sweet" not in there tho

i personaly feel that this award show shouldnt involve major artist from the bay,but thats just my honest opinion.

marvaless aint from the bay but shit is dope ass fuck but be it that this is a bay area rap awards why is she in it?

This is a right place, right time, right idea, WRONG PEOPLE event. The idea is sick, but the shit doesn't reflect the reality of what is going on out here. The shit could be tight if more effort was put into making this a creditable Bay event and not just a "them my niggaz so they gettin an award" type of thing.

there is no need for a different awards show, Booyowski and the Hypnotic Show have done a great job putting together the events the last 2 years, at least someone finally stepped up and gave us our own awards, that was them, you can't hate on them for that. all they need is a better more structured voting system

i didn't read shit in this thread but the subject and all i gotta say is most of these award shows be fake as fuck

don't even pay attention to them. its all money, fake statistics and politics

most of the time the host gets paid to give out awards by sponsors and affiliates. it's a game ran by cash flow
