THA HYPHY MOVEMENT I FEEL WAS GOOD FOR CALIFORNIA AS WELL AS SAN DIEGO BECAUSE IT REPRESENTED A DIFFERENT IMAGE BESIDES BANGIN... ITS PARTY MUSIC.. JUS LIKE THA CRUNK MOVEMENT IN ATL.. THA HYPHE MOVEMENT IS IN CA... WHICH BRINGS THA LABELS ATTENTION BACK OVER TO THE WEST COAST.... N FOR SAN DIEGO TO HAVE A GANG BANGIN IMAGE WOULDNT BE ACCURATE... NOT SAYIN THAT THA GANG BANGIN ACTIVITY AINT IN DAYGO CAUSE IT IS!!! BUT CAN YOU HONESTLY COMPARE THA BANGIN THAS OUT HERE TO THE BANGIN THAT GOES OFF IN LA?? FROM WHAT I KNOW IS THAT I SEE WAY MORE BLACK PEOPLE IN EVERY OTHER CITY IN CALIFORNIA BESIDES SAN DIEGO... AND IVE SEEN LA GET THERE IMAGE FROM WHAT THEY REPRESENT IN THA STREET WHICH IS BANGIN.. I THINK DAYGO IS A MIXTURE OF BOTH THA BAY AND LA WHICH BRINGS A NEW SOUND PERIOD.. NO MATTER IF YOU BANGIN OR NOT!! IF YOU FROM DAYGO PEOPLE IS GONNA KNOW!! IF NOT THEY WILL SOON FIND OUT!! BUT ITS THA ARTISTS THAT EMBRACE BOTH CULTURES THA WEST COAST PROVIDED FOR US THAS GONNA MAKE IT HAPPEN!! THE RIGHT DAYGO MUSIC GONNA BE THA MUSIC THAT THE WHOLE CALIFORNIA STATE CAN FEEL...
only thing is , the rappers you named will never release albums on a major
and I'm not sure if there is a such thing as a "hyphy rapper"...I kno bay artist that will do a hyphy song 2 or 3
such as E-40,keak,mess,the team,mistah f.a.b etc.
I'm not saying do hyphy songs at all...but if u do get signed u gotta give the label,the consumers and radio whats in demand....and I don't think cali has jus hyphy to offer by any means...but these niggaz is getting signed,gettin spins and droppin albums or have release dates ...such as e-40 dropped ,mista fab(atlantic) jan 23rd,the A'z ( feb.tvt),the pack (jive)dec.19th,clyde carson of the team(capitol/blackwallstreet),thefederation (warner)
wich I dont know none of this to be going on with any of the artist you named...If I'm wrong please inform me otherwise
you may be right,but there are artist that get signed with majors and still never get released.In todays times,I dont think anyone has a clear cut solution or blueprint on whats gonna work.Didnt daz do some mainstream appealing stuff with JD?His album really flopped....but here are some recent deals that took place this year...and This is just info spread by artists..so who knows the real deal
1.ROCCETT- CTE West (YOUNG JEEZY LABEL)
2.Damani- Sony urban
3. Bishop lamont -Aftermath
4.Omar Cruz-Geffen interscope
5.Glasses malone-Sony
6.BAD Lucc- I aint sure but snoop putting out western union with him and Damani
I have also heard problem had alot of interest from labels like DEF Jam,
Young Hoggs I aint sure if they ever got the deal.....b
anyways my point being there are people getting signed..is it big money? probably not but its an avenue to build there career....and these artist arent doing the type of songs we talking about.....but to each his own,,,time will tell Irocc..i respect your knowledge and experience...i just strongly beleive that current soundscans is a continious trend that cant be overlooked..and that is its getting harder and harder to sell a c.d...with major record stores closing..will places like best buy who in the past been indy friendly...will they have shelf space to fill the void of the tower records,etc closing?

u jus agreed with what i said totally...the point i was tryin 2 make was..NORTHERN CALI re-invented their sound and now they're gettin attention ,signed,radio play and dropping records...I think if we (southern cali artist) like jus making songs and trunk selling and some artist do just like doing that..and more power to them...but if we want the other things ,we have to try a different approach...there is no 1 way or no for sure way to succeed ..but it can be very clear to us whats not the right way and wat doesnt work(soundscan 's of other artist and our own sales)...and at the end of the day I think we need to ask ourselves as artist,men and businessmen is this working?did I make progress this last year?is my method working? and if the answer is NO let's not give up....let's try something different ,don't handicap ourselves

Thats funny homie, cuz keak been doin his thang since 3X Krazy back in the early 90's just to let you know, Mistah Fab, yeah he might be new and young but he got flows and he styles on mufuckas. And the bay aint frontin like its a new sound, mufuckas (E-40 said it first) all day in the bay say hyphy is crunks cuzzo...As for the simple 808 drum pattern with a simple ass melody and simple ass lyrics....well if it was that simple, how come a mufucka from dago couldnt do somethin like dat?
