theres bad blood within neighboorhoods that have had gang fueds for a long time.

you expect bloods and crips (or in our case, bloods and bloods) to get together? i mean...this aint the gang truce...id love to see it tho...i just dont expect it..

i know dudes who wouldnt even work with other dudes when there was money to be made just cuz of some street shit...they refused..even though it would put them in a better position..

also alot of our rappers aint business/technology savvy...theres quite a few out there that dont know how to use a computer...

niggas is just hood, basically.

On a fan view...it bothers me when I see a Dago artist talking bout my album "coming soon" and 29 months down the road they still talkin bout my album is "coming soon". If it did drop today I wouldn't really want to cop that shit, the anticipation factor is over.

That's why I respect Lil CS...he said his Mob Kingz album would be out in 2 weeks and on everything it was.

I've been ripped off by an artist or two before too..(send 'em cash and never recieve product). I have no plans on supporting anyone like that.

I think So.Cal needs to move back to that classic "G" Funk/LowRider/Gangstas & Palm Trees type of sound....beat wise. Yeah the rap styles may change , but the leave the musical foundation in place and build on that. That's what put us on the map to begin with. Seems like a lot of SoCal artist hop on the "Hottest" beat band wagon and ride that because thats what's hot. That's someone elses sound! Stick to the foundation the West is known for...and let other regions jock our shit. Look at the dirty south sound...it hasn't changed much. Just a variation of what they always did from the start. Take reggae music for example, the musical foundation has been the same for years and when it does...it's a variation of what they always did. Westcoast needs to stick to that sound we was known for and modernize it. For example, I think Daz is on the right track.

rap summit....Yall gotta think of the bigger picture...whats this summit gonna do?....this is music, and business...not no tupperware party...Best chance of dago blowing is get rid of that dago mind frame.....and concentrate on the craft and your business.Get out of dago..network outside of dago. Some of these artists are stuborn and hard headed.I keep telling young sau network outside of dago..infiltrate circles such as that new west breed of artists.get on there shows to perform, and the contacts he has made speak highly of him....but sau do songs everyother day with other dago artists......Worst case scenario he will have a well respected dago album.....but what good is that?Thats like all you charger fans...how are the chargers gonna get the respect they want......not by scrimmaging against each other...they gotta take it city to city and bring it to em.....so san diego rap summit..to me is pointless.besides maybe meeting up and having a lil fun...it aint gonna make no noise,or help dago.
what If i told you Boise idaho had a rap summit last month for there artists..what would you truly say? I can hear it now.....Who gives a fuck...I aint heard shit.....So why would anyone outside dago feel any different towards your summit?
I personally can tell you that for new artists it aint really gonna benefit you either cause
1.Most known dago artist aint found there place yet in the frontline
2.Besides a few artists and affilliates....majority are not business minded sure theres some hustlers, and even most them cant hustle there own careers past FAM BAM...

If there was a summit most would be going to try and network..maybe learn a few things....the few who can truly speak on it...why havent they so far...they see these threads...everything you can get from the summit you can get on here.

Mitchy killed the momentum by pushing back U.S.S. 17 times!!!!!!! Then, when he releases it, folks that actually KNOW who he is have already downloaded the bootlegged version of it or have heard 7 of the 15 tracks.

NOT A FORMULA FOR SUCCESS!!!!!!!

Jayo killed it by not releasing ANYTHING worthwhile in quite a while!!!!!!

Steve Vicious killed it by teasing niggas with 1.0............but not putting it out the masses.

Skyline niggas killed it by HATIN' on Mitchy.

Lil CS killed it by not releasing anymore music.

With all that being said, that only thing that is gonna put Dago on the map is a signature sound. Not an MC or a gang or a crew. Just some slumpin' ass music. Don't get me wrong EVERYBODY I just name super talnted..........but FUCK!!!!!!!!

Yo, CRICET, if you readin' this, please step up to the plate and drop some PURE UNCUT DAGO MUSIC ON THESE NIGGAS HEADS!!!!!!! Release the Mercy 1972 and bring back the momentum.

If that don't work, ALL them niggas is gonna have to form a "Dago Collective Squad" and hit 'em from EVERY angle(LP, ESP, NHC, 5/9 Brim, EDM, WCC and NHC).......

..........y'all know that shit ain't gon' happen so were just basically fucked when it comes to the NATIONAL scene. It would be tight, though. I'll just keep dreamin'.

P.S. That nigga Contraband is the TRUTH.

BIG FRIZZ....Im just callin it how i see it...and as an example RASAN mentioned B.E .T. AWARDS
Maybe an idea......organize ahead of time....get a board of directors or group who wants to oganize it...get all artists who wanna promote to submit there hottest song...and maybe a few dollars..if they dont make the cut at least they helping make dago blow...make a promo comp....press up about 2000 copies...maybe go to nemo and see if he can save you on pressing in exchange for siccness logo on promo c.d.....promo c.d along with promo flyers and about 100-200 of us siccness riders in siccness san diego t-shirts in full force mashin at the awards..

WOW, I feel the same EXACT way! I'm glad to see that I ain't alone. Still to this day, I try to look for artists & tracks that use G-Funk/Bay Area Mobb style beats and just that smooth low key gangsta WestCoast vibe. That's the kind of sound that made the WESTCOAST stand out big and that's the way I think it should stay, especially in SoCal or all of the Westcoast as a matter of fact. All this new Hyphy $hit just ain't real music IMO, it's all wierd, noisey, techno influenced sounding. I seriously can't see how fools be listening to that $hit, it's silly as fuck. I wanna hear piano, chords, guitar/bass riffs, sick Moog style bouncy basslines, lead keyboard synth sounds,... anything that comes with that classic 90's Westcoast sound. I hope it all comes back, it's just up to producers to start producing it again. Right now, it seems that only Mexican rappers be using it heavily and I give them big props for that because it shows that their not sell outs hopping on the bandwagon, they got good taste when it comes to beat choice. Until then, I will keep bumping all the old $hit to satisfy my needs and dig through the few to find decent new $hit.

As of late, only really Ecay Uno's $hit has sounded dope to me cuz he incorporates that G-Funk/BayArea Mobb style with smooth gangsta vibe. Ecay Uno - "If it's on it's on" & "Look at cha self" best beats I've heard in a long long time. Some Mitchy as well, but some of his $hit like "Basschaser" has started sounding Hyphy-ish. Some Luni Coleone ain't bad either like his songs "Ya-Ya" & "Thug Shit" dope ass beats. That's the kind of $hit I like. Brotha Lynch Hung & MC Eiht - California Bangers has a SICK vibe to it as well. DPG's-Cali iz Active is dope, classic G-Funk sound. Lil Cuete's "The #1 Gun" & "We Got Guns" are dope tracks also. Lil Al from SD got some sick G-Funk beats as well in his album, some true Westcoast sounding shit. See that's all the kind of $hit I can ride to, but it's all hard to come by this day in age since everyone is so brainwashed.

Need to bring that FUNK back!

I think diego is getting ready to blow. On the music tip it's slowly growing. But look at the other avenues...we got 1 of the hottest clothing lines out the entire westcoast based here...Fabricali. "The Westcoast" is EVERYWHERE. We even got a fuckin t.v. show now. Homie the pot is bubbling...if rappers were smart they would seriously start dropping music NOW.

Just because the Music in diego isn't hitting mainstream...that doesnt mean diego aint doing shit. I think we should ALL be rocking fabricali shit. We should ALL be watching The Grimmie Wreck Show and we should all continue making siccness.net one of the most high traffic forums on the net. Because all 3 of these outlets are very big waves on the westcoast and there all straight outta Diego. The more of us supporting these waves they just get bigger and bigger until they break into the mainstream and the WHOLE City rides those mutha fuckas into the mainstream with it...Paving the way for all the music we put out too

The 'B-boy Summit' used to happen every year in SD down by the convention center... All kinda cats doing their thing (selling music, spinning records, networking, discussion panels) but the police were not having it...they moved it in LA... Bass Chasers knocks... numbers 21 and 33 are running all over fools... Reggie Bush is for real... some cat from South East held his own on 106 and Park... The city of Saints??? Lost Momentum???

i dont think "g funk" was ever san diegos thing....thats some LA shit...
no nigga i knew out here who was making beats at that time was on that shit...

it was just some straight up gangsta rap beats...heavy on keyboards and shit...i dont even remember too many people sampling, matter fact i might have been the first person i know to buy a sampler...to me g funk came about by sampling old records...but that wasnt really that many people in diego to my knowledge..

i mean san diegos rap/beat style did exist before we even had noticability in our own city..niggas was more inspired by zapp and roger than curtis mayfield...

MY OPINION:

San Diego artist for a while were getting some shine and recognition from Publications, some radio, collaborations, etc..But a lot of those artists failed to promote or drop that album and promote it outside their usual standard-Fam Mart...Which has slowed down cause Star Music is scared to take Independent product right now....Just real quick...
