You right Nemo...you know I would place big orders all the time and only purchase SD music..now I think the only thing I need to cop is the new B-Stone cd and the Sick Beav mixtape

san diego rappers are not full time rappers...in the sense that..they have other obligations..whether it be the street, they kids, etc.
shit i can say that after meeting quite a few of um.
something to keep in mind.

things will drop sporatically, but as a born and raised san diego native i can say san diego didnt even know it had a momentum. maybe like, 5 rappers that go to the siccness knew of such momentum.

on a lower scale, i think certain people lost momentum...others would be offended at you suggesting momentum was lost..theres two sides to every coin..

The 'average' rap fan probably bumbs D4L, Da Band, and Young B so that doesn't mean much... and who hasn't heard of Nick Cannon? Ha ha ha...

But for real I bet Dago rappers are just plotting on a come up... It takes time to blow. The Bay's been doing their thing for years and are just now getting there shine (remember when E-40 was in MVP) Dago's movement is young it just needs time to grow...

san diego never really had any momentom..its just a foolish pride perception....reality is outside this niche market..the average rap fan aint heard of any dago artists...
Actually, the "average" rap fan hasnt heard of any underground artist nor do they care to hear about any. The "average" rap fan just wants to hear whatevers on MTV trl. When I was selling 300-500 pieces of Mike Jones and Paul Wall cds a week, the "average rap" fan didnt know who they were. The "average" rap fan doesnt know who, keak da sneak, turf talk, mistah fab, glasses malone, etc............ none of these guys are.

But when I went to different cities and they asked my where Im from and Id say Diego, first thing out there mouth was "whats up wit Mitchy""I-rocc got some new shit?""lil cs, jayo, etc............." all day long, it still happens. And I can remeber a time where that wasnt happening, shit when we used to be on the streets of dago selling dago cds, cats would tell you to your face, they aint fuckn wit dago. Now cats only want dago! now I feel like thats some type on momentum, let me know

I think So.Cal needs to move back to that classic "G" Funk/LowRider/Gangstas & Palm Trees type of sound....beat wise. Yeah the rap styles may change , but the leave the musical foundation in place and build on that. That's what put us on the map to begin with. Seems like a lot of SoCal artist hop on the "Hottest" beat band wagon and ride that because thats what's hot. That's someone elses sound! Stick to the foundation the West is known for...and let other regions jock our shit. Look at the dirty south sound...it hasn't changed much. Just a variation of what they always did from the start. Take reggae music for example, the musical foundation has been the same for years and when it does...it's a variation of what they always did. Westcoast needs to stick to that sound we was known for and modernize it. For example, I think Daz is on the right track.

i dont think "g funk" was ever san diegos thing....thats some LA shit...
no nigga i knew out here who was making beats at that time was on that shit...

it was just some straight up gangsta rap beats...heavy on keyboards and shit...i dont even remember too many people sampling, matter fact i might have been the first person i know to buy a sampler...to me g funk came about by sampling old records...but that wasnt really that many people in diego to my knowledge..

i mean san diegos rap/beat style did exist before we even had noticability in our own city..niggas was more inspired by zapp and roger than curtis mayfield...

I wasn't talkin bout every bay artist, the cats from the bay who deserves to be signed is gettin slept on cuz they aint selling out for mainstream appeal. The only reason clowns like mista fab and keak the sneak are shinning is because they bitin Atlanta's swagger. The truth hurts don't it? Stop frontin like Hyphy is a new sound. Its just a simple 808 drum pattern with a simple ass melody and simple ass lyrics. The same shit that lil jon blew up with.

i think keak the sneak is "shining" because he put out 9 mixtapes INCLUDING bootleg mixtapes in a small ass amount of time before appearing on tell me when to go.....

and because "blue jeans t shirt and nikes" was getting the #1 spot for spins in the bay...oh yeah and the cover of murder dog twice might have helped, and bieng on treal tv, which everyone and they mom bought when dre died.

and possibly because his voice is original...

and atl aint invent the 808 and simple lyrics. you might as well say ATL bit their style from D-Nice if youre gonna say that.

as far as mistah fab tho...no comment
