This thread was created out of hope and rationalization. If the Niners took this guy all Raider fans would be having a field day with it. It was a purely shit pick and everyone knows it. Live with it.

DHB by far
great route running, great hands he has a veteran future hall of famer WR for mentoring, and a great coaching staff that will get the most out of him and the oakland offense

Crabtree has great hands and apparently great route running (although i will believe it when i see it) and Torry Holt to mentor him. So how is it "DHB by far"?

He must have not been all that good since no team traded up to draft him.
Know the facts before you type idiot. Once Crabtree fell to the niners are 10, the niners didnt take any phone calls, crabtree was the player the niners wanted.

Niners picked him because he was the best player on the board. That was stupid, you're supposed to pick the best player that fits your needs not just because he's the best on the board.
Um last I check, WR was one of the NINERS NEEDS. Why did Davis pick DHB if he already has a speedster in J Lee Higgins? Not every team goes by that "youre not supposed to pick the best player on the board bullshit", I mean look, Al Davis didnt LMAO!

Crabtree. you can't go wrong with good route running and good hands. speed is always nice, but don't mean shit. just look at Hester.

I know the facts idiot, Crabtree "fell" for a reason. Nobody wanted him that picked between 1-9 that should tell you something but you're too stupid to understand.

Davis picked DHB because his speed will help our offense out in so many ways. Our running game is already there so once safeties start creeping to the line of scrimmage to help support against the run, DHB will be a threat to get behind the safety on play action fakes. J Lee Higgins is a number 3 receiver which means he usually lines up in the slot. With DHB out there they're either going to have to double him or leave him in one on one coverage. If you double that means the safety can't come up in the box to support the run. If you leave him in one on one coverage the Raiders are going to make you pay because he has the "speed" to go vertical and JaMarcus has the "arm" to get him the ball. So pick your poison and learn the game of football before you try to get with me!

Too? LOL, this fool doesn't even know what team he's talking about. The 49ers only have Bruce not Bruce and Torry Holt. Jacksonville signed Torry Holt (and they passed on Crabtree too, hmmmmm wonder why????)
I have always gotten Bruce and Holt mixed up, because they BOTH played for the Rams and BOTH are future HOF...not to mention, i DON'T CARE...Im not a 9ers fan.

Either, that is COMPLETELY irrelevant to what is being discussed. Nice red herring tactic...take you fallacies elsewhere, Madden boy.

Or, once AGAIN, the Raiders were TOO STUPID to pick Crabtree...isnt that one of the things we have discussed? Such a short memory you have.

The hilarious thing is, EVERYONE....experts, Raider fans, sports fans...ALL were like "WTF!" when they picked DHB. Did you NOT see that during the draft? It even left one of the panelists SPEECHLESS....that doesn't happen to often in the 1st round. Not even Mario Williams garnered that much head scratching.

Again, the justifying of this pick by Raider fans is just a defense mechanism. I hope he works out of you, though, i truly do. I would love to be proven wrong.

Hmmmmm, let's see. The Rams lost Bruce and then Holt in back to back seasons, they had an opportunity to draft the best player in the draft (WR, Crabtree) according to the experts and they passed.... wonder why?

The Raiders weren't too stupid, they picked the best player they wanted and didn't care what the experts, fans, or anyone else thinks because those mf's won't be calling our plays. DHB fits our scheme better than Crabtree does, plus Crabree didn't want to be a Raider anyway. You have to think from a "strategical" standpoint. We added a much needed vertical threat to our offense. J Lee Higgins is not a vertical threat even though he has the speed to work out of the slot. He doesn't have the size! He's a number 3, he's not big enough to command double teams from the Y or Z position. Drafting DHB will force defenses to roll their coverage/safeties towards his way and that'll open up things for our other players like McFadden, Miller, Walker etc.... We'll see what happens if defenses decide they want to have one of their safeties creep to the line of scrimmage to help stop the run, that'll leave DHB in one on one coverage, and that's when his speed comes into play.

Because they had OTHER needs maybe? They have one of the best RB's in the game and a very capable QB that can deliver even without a big WR to throw too. They desperately needed help on the OL and defensive upgrades, well, EVERYWHERE. You're mixing up NEEDS with WANTS.
