This thread should have been made because this draft (and who the Raiders picked) will be talked about for years. Will the Raiders regret passing on Crabtree for DHB? Or will the Raiders prove they picked the right player? The experts, fans from other teams, siccness sports fans are laughing at the Raiders for choosing DHB over Crabtree so I don't see why the thread shouldn't have been created. This topic will be be debated for years so why not start the debate here and now? If the topic doesn't interest you then don't click on the thread it's as simple as that. In my opinion, it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out and we'll see who got the better receiver. The Niners say they got the best "player" in the draft so we'll see.
ive seen alot of videos of raiders fans during the draft, when they didnt say crabtree, i heard alot of histerical mad/angry yells. Not very many people were thinkin DHB. You guys couldve had both Crabtree and DHB probably.

Yeah I seen those videos too... The Raiders didn't want Crabtree for a number of reasons. The Raiders got who they wanted and where they wanted. I don't understand why critics keep questioning the Raiders and where they picked their players. There was no guarantee that those players were still going to be around if the Raiders did trade down.

The Raiders wanted Heyward-Bey in the 1st and Mike Mitchell in the 2nd. How we do know if they were going to be available later in the draft if the Raiders did trade down? The answer is we don't know. Nobody knows who was going to be available and when... you think the Niners thought Crabtree was going to be available at the 10 spot? Who expected the Chiefs to draft a DE at the number 3?

Hey, Ray, among them is that Maclin was available for the Eagles to move up and grab at No. 19. I have talked to a few teams who were not at all surprised that Darrius Heyward-Bey was the first receiver taken, despite all of the flack the Raiders have received. Several have told me that he is, indeed, a rare home-run threat that will scare the life out of defenses deep. That said, Maclin was supposed to be, at least, among the top 15 picks. So, what grab for the Eagles. I have also been told by high-ranking Giants sources that reports they were trying to move up to get Maclin are totally untrue. The only receiver the Giants would have moved up to get is Heyward-Bey and that would have happened had he fell to No. 16.

Just because the Giants don't expect to make a trade for Braylon Edwards on Saturday doesn't mean they won't make a deal for a receiver. That's still their intention on Day 1 of the NFL draft.

And their target appears to be Maryland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.

According to two sources familiar with the team's plans, the Giants are looking to trade up in the first round with the hopes of getting into position to draft Heyward-Bey. The 6-2, 210-pounder is one of the fastest receivers in the draft - he once ran a 4.23 in the 40-yard dash - and the Giants view him as the big-play, deep threat they so desperately need now that Plaxico Burress has been released.

They are also optimistic they can move up high enough to get him. The Giants have an excess of picks this weekend - 10 altogether, including two picks in both the second and third rounds. They had previously offered second- and fifth-round picks - both of which they got from New Orleans last summer in the Jeremy Shockey trade - to Cleveland in an attempt to land Edwards.

Those two picks, plus their first-rounder, could be enough to get the Giants as high as the 14th selection in the first round, according to the "draft pick value chart" that NFL personnel people often use.

Of course, they can do that only if there's someone willing to drop down to the Giants' current 29th spot, and several NFL sources have said that many teams are looking to drop down in this draft - some for economic reasons, and others because of the talent they feel will be available late in the round. It's not clear just how high the Giants would have to jump to get Heyward-Bey, who made 45 catches for 694 yards and five TDs last season as a junior.

However, assuming Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree and Missouri wideout Jeremy Maclin go in the Top 10, as expected, it's hard to imagine Heyward-Bey even getting close to the Giants at No.29. The Jets (at 17), Eagles (21), Vikings (22), Dolphins (25), Ravens (26), and Colts (27) all could have an interest in Heyward-Bey. Even the Cleveland Browns, who could pick up a mid-to-late first-round pick by trading either Edwards or quarterback Brady Quinn, are interested in the Maryland receiver. They even sent a contingent to College Park, Md., to work him out this morning.

Good point^ we'll see. I just posted to that to prove that DHB would have been taken before the 2nd round. Looks like he was being looked at by the Giants... they were planning to move up in the draft to take him if he was available at 16. I think the Ravens were looking at him as well. So I don't think the Raiders were stupid for taking him when they did.

As for Alex Smith, I don't hate on dude or the Niners so take it how you want to. I just keep it real. Alex Smith has the smarts to be a good qb he just has a problem throwing the ball consistantly from the pocket (from a lack of arm strength) and running a "pro style" offense. If I was Singletary I would use more of a "spread" type offense because it suits Alex Smith's and Crabtree's skills better than running a pro style offense. Crabtree might have a tough time adjusting to the pro style. He's not used to seeing double teams and a safety over the top.

Yeah so I guess Norv Turner doesn't run a pro style offense since when he was here that was also Alex Smith's best year. Keepin it real? My ass. Just like how you be bringing up your dreams of Singletary's behind every now and then.

Norv does run a pro style offense but he called (limited) plays that he knew Alex Smith could handle. We didn't see Alex Smith slanging the ball down the field like Rivers is doing in the same offense.... How many TD's did Smith throw compared to how many Rivers threw in the same offense? If I remember correctly he called for a lot of screens and roll outs which suited Alex Smiths strengths. Alex Smith standing in the pocket running a pro style offense is not going to work. As for me having dreams about Singletary's behind.... come on now. Wasn't it you that complained about me saying the same things over and over and then you bring it back up? Let it go bro.... Your head coach is proven to be mentally unstable. Maybe I should get on his stuttering now since you're tired of hearing about him dropping his pants and tea bagging the players who were screwing up.
