Haye has several plans to beat Wladimir
June 8th, 2011

By William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) said on his blog hayemaker.com that he has a “Plan A, Plan B and Plan C” to use to beat IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko next month in Hamburg, Germany. It’s no secret that one of the strategies will involve Haye using a lot of lateral movement along with occasional pot shots like he did in his fight against WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev in 2009.

That plan is no doubt going to be Haye’s Plan A. Haye has been fighting with that mode in virtually all of his fights since moving up to the heavyweight division in 2008. In guessing what Haye’s Plan B will entail, it’s very likely that one will be a strategy where Haye opens up with shots in close when Wladimir attempts clinches. Haye doesn’t like to be clinched and tends to take advantage of these attempts at a tie up by his opponents by tagging them with shots in close.

Haye is very dangerous with his rabbit punches while being held and that might actually be Haye’s best chance of winning the fight. The long distance pot shots are something that Haye could have problems finding success with because they’ll have to travel so far to make contact with Wladimir, and he’s much better defensively compared to Haye’s last opponent Audley Harrison.

The last strategy that Haye will probably employ against Wladimir will probably be one where Haye desperately attacks him all out in a risky all or nothing gamble. This will obviously be the plan of last resort because Haye will be at his wits end by then after eating massive amounts of jabs and having his face cut up. Haye might want to throw away plan A and B and go straight to plan C, because Haye’s best chance of winning may be one where he just goes right at Wladimir and tries to take him out in the first two rounds with a flurry of shots the same way that Mike Tyson used to get most of his knockouts. Haye’s best assets are speed and power. He doesn’t have the size or reach to beat Wladimir over the long haul. As such, Haye needs to immediately go after him and try to take him out as quick as he can.

Wladimir dares Haye to wear t-shirt again

By William Mackay: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) is daring WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) to wear his t-shirt depicting Haye holding the severed heads of the Klitschko brothers. Haye had a t-shirt made before his failed fight with Wladimir in 2009 and wore the t-shirt to one of their press conferences. Wladimir was really angered by the t-shirt and still wants to pay Haye back for wearing it. But he’s now daring Haye to wear it again.

Speaking with thesun.co.uk, Wladimir said “The t-shirt business showing him with out heads off was totally stupid. I strongly believe he feels greally bad about it now even if he says he has no regrets. If he had no regrets he would wear that t-shirt one more time. But he does not way to because it was stupid…My task is to show him how to behave himself.”

It looks like Wladimir wants some extra motivation to really give a pounding in their July 2nd fight. I doubt that he really needs it at this point because he’s already got enough bad blood built up to one to beat Haye senseless. Any bit extra is only going to make Wladimir fight stupid and perhaps cause him to fight Haye’s fight. Wladimir needs to stay mentally focused and realize that he has to continue to do the things that brought him this far. If he gets into the pit to fight Haye’s fight, Wladimir will be giving the faster Haye the only chance he has to win the bout. Wladimir’s trainer Emanuel Steward wants him to be more aggressive for the Haye bout, but it may be that Wladimir doesn’t have the chin to fight as aggressively as Steward wants him to.

Haye's looks to be in damn good shape. He has the hand speed, movement both head and foot, and punching power to give Wlad a lot of problems. The Klitschko's are just so damn big, and it's hard to get inside their long jab.. I hope Haye wins.

I agree with your assessment. I hear some people say Klitschko was shook but nah, he had that furious 'I'm going to kill you" look and david haye broke the uncomfortable silence with "it's going to be a hell of a fight" or whatever he said looking a bit nervous.

I'll still be rooting for Haye but he's going to take a real beating.

^^^ how the FUCK were u not interested in this fight????!?!?!?!?!
Like I said before, I'm not interested in anything that is "Klitschko." I don't consider the brothers true fighters. Yes, they are getting in the ring and putting their life on the line, but they aren't fighters in my eyes, more like circus freaks and gimmick fighters (because it's two brothers.)

The list of people they have fought is not impressive. It isn't a who's who of boxing like Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, etc.
