Good news for Raider fans. We shouldn't have went after him anyway. He wants to be a "backup" and ride the bench. He has no desire to be a starter! The Raiders don't need someone like that in my opinion! We need a qb that wants to come in to start and play right away to help the team win. NOW!!

It says nothing like that in the article...Jake is the man and has earned the right to be names starter right now until Carr earns it over him....lol

Also what does this say about the Raiders when the kid turns down the starting role for a loser to be a back-up on a winner!

He didn't want to lose anymore...bwhahahahaha

Turned down the starting role? He was never offered the starting position in Oakland, they did talk to him but that was about it.... and about what the article says...

It says Jake is the "unchallenged" starter. Which means his starting job is not even up for grabs. So Carr won't be earning the starting role over Jake. The only way Carr would play in Carolina is if Jake gets hurt or just plays bad football. But Jake is the clear starter. You know how some teams have a competition in camp? That's not the case here. Carr wants to be a back up!

"It's a case where we were obviously looking for someone to come in [and] back up Jake and the opportunity to get a quarterback the caliber of David in free agency is unique," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney told The Associated Press.

Carolina coach John Fox reiterated during the Panthers' courtship of Carr that Delhomme is the unchallenged starter, but the addition of Carr certainly provides an interesting alternative if the incumbent struggles as he did a year ago.

We made it clear and he knows that Jake Delhomme is our starting quarterback," Hurney said to the AP. "I think it was important for him to come to a winning organization and a place where he thinks has a chance to win. He knows that Jake is our starter. Every player wants to play, but he knows the role he's coming into."

On the real if they do draft a qb I say throw him into the fire from day one. Experience is the best teacher and if he is going to be making all that money might as well play him. Vince, Matt, and Jay all were drafted in the first round. No they didn't get thrown into the fire from day one... but they all ended up starting before the season was over. And now they are now entering the season as the starting Qb's for their teams. I think Peyton started from day one... he struggled in his first year but now he's a hall of famer. Not saying if the Raiders drafted a qb he'll be a hall of famer but throw him into the fire so he could learn right away. Big Ben was thrown into the fire...

If they do pick up a veteran... I'd say get Josh McCown from Detroit.

^Yeah... that's what I'm saying! He's pretty much set on being a backup. Kiffin probably wasn't feeling that. Didn't even want to compete. David Carr has made his money now he wants to hold a clipboard.

you can look at it that way...or you can look at it the way everyone else thats an nfl fan will look at it and he doesn't want to be on a loser anymore after going through hell in Houston.
