IF YOU HAD MERCY VOL.1 WHAT WOULD U DO WITH IT? HONESTLY
Good question..There are many variables such as what kind of deal was cut between Nemo and Cricet. I am sure you have heard some producers on the siccness who claim to have gotten around $7,000 for a beat placed in a commercial. My homie has had about 5 songs he produced in movies so it is doable. So as I was saying depending on the arrangement. He can piece out each song to movies, television including cable shows etc. During this time it might bring more recognition to Cricet, on top of that the album can still be released. Is the album gonna be any less good if its put out today or 10 years from now...I might hear someone mention the music not being relative later on, but ask yourself is the music currently relative? I personally would buy his album 10 years from now because he makes the kind of music i enjoy.
Putting it out now you probably will recoup all costs but why be in business if you aint making a profit...what to be the homie or cool with so and so.
Waiting is a risk as well and I acknowledge that, but maybe the gamble will pay off...

as cee lo said one monkey dont stop the show

edit: and he game siccness alot of shout outs on mercy 2 actually
lets not act like nemo or siccness has never done anything for any of the artist here in SD if my memory serves me correctly siccness has released or distributed every single cricet record out to this date except for mercy v.2 lets not also forget that every albums that siccness releases where we need producers cricet is never left out he is always the mad scientist behind the music lets not also forget that everything siccness related all artist, engineers and producers get PAID for there work rather its released or not.

1 album on hold but cricet says 2 new albums are on the way and the ppl still find something to complain about on siccness smh...

coop that has literally nothing to do with what im saying though. i just wanna hear the shit. im not saying nemo dosent deserve props, im not saying you dont. none of what your speaking of is really any interest to me because me and your company arent doing business. im not complaining either, but my dude for instance lets say terminator comes out, and niggas is feelin it...then terminator two is made and is shelved...and niggas is like yeah, well we got terminator 2 done but we bout to wait till the market change...

thats that real dr dre detox shit lol

but like i said... *im not complaining* on top of which it isnt my thread, im just in here weighing opinions like everyone else... its not my money, i do not care

i merely wanna hear the shit. ten dollars is nothing to me and maybe thats where the problem lies in the album being out, ten dollars might lead to several hundreds of dollars in downloading.. i dont care if nemo shelved it or fuckin steven speilberg did dog..as a music fan who liked cricets music id just like to hear it because its a part of a two-disc album.

i woulda liked to see how mercy one compared to mercy two around the same time frame...but like i said, it aint my business, yall work that out.

here comes the essay lol

my comment was aimed at your one comment of cricet gave alot of shout out to siccness on the mercy 2. basically giving my OPINION to why he may have gave all those shout out or anybody giving siccness a shout all that we dont do business shit thats neither here nor there and literally has nothing to do with what im talking about who cares.

do anybody actually knows how the cd sales work out here in dago...and everywhere else that has stores left that support dago music?

i get all the fans point cause me myself am a fan b4 anything else but at the same time not you but others are missing the point and why is that because they have never had to deal with the bullshit of investing money into albums and never seeing that money back like intended or wake up a year later after the release of your record and still have 1000 units sitting in your storage that you somehow cant get rid of unless you pass them out for free lol or sale at a discount price...

i know you a very intelligent dude and i know you wouldnt keep running back to the man kopping if all you was doing was losing or breaking even...your gonna figure out a new plan or leave it alone all together as someone once said we gotta talk dope since that's all we seem to understand...

if your a dago artist/record label watever we call it now adays if san diego record stores are closing and aint buying albums like they use to you either have 1 or 2 options figure out a new game plan or stop all together...

Point of the story is San Diego Rap market is fucked up just ask anybody that has been to jail for selling a cd or 2 lol ask shin ask jennifer ask darren from music trader all these cats have seen jail for selling what we love to listen to and create if your gonna take that risk store clerks are gonna rethink they operation of business or just shut down all together...

I know i rarely make sense to you but whats hard to understand about that?

i hear you on that. you made perfect sense

my reasoning for bringing up the 'he gave siccness props' line was basically saying that same thing. it wasnt really a slick line, its more or less an add on to what cricet said himself 'ill never let that happen again' or whatever.

he apparently has love for nemo or i dont think he woulda even mentioned some of the lines on the album like 'what if nemo brought me a deal just like baby from cash'

edit: i can only help but think that cricet feels that he might be getting capitalized on, like he drops his two next albums with minimal success and then yall come in with mercy 1 and get more cd sales (possibly?) following up... i do understand that in marketing terms.

i agree with you though, i wouldnt wanna be selling cds right now. and on some cool shit i think having a message board attached to a sales area kind of breeds the piracy. and 50cal was correct on 'the gamble' i guess it does pay off to look at it like that. its weak that as soon as you drop your shit its available for free..

niggas need to start sellin 8 tracks again or somethin.

From the standpoint of the fans it makes sense to release it. But how much money do you gotta keep putting in the pot before you realize that you will not recoup that money? Maybe it would do bigger numbers then i thought...who knows, but how much money was paid to cricet for the album? ( production, verses, artwork, photos). Can the siccness recoup what they put in already? on top of adding more expenses like pressing up...what about marketing etc. Or should they just put it out now for the 20 members on the sicc and then its available for free download on another site.

50 you a smart man. see i cant get on here sayin shit like that because then i would be called (BIAS)

I don't know shit about the record business, but I've learned some things from this thread. To me, it just seems like if you have the music but don't release it, you're going to get a reputation among artists and fans as a company that does not release the music. But you say that the artists get paid for their work. It sounds very much like what Suge Knight did on Death Row with artists like Crooked I. Sure, they got paid, but their music never saw the light of day.

Seriously, I hope that game plan you are working on is some innovative shit because I would love to see you figure something out to where you can release the music to the fans and also see a nice profit. For me, without Siccness, 3/4 of the San Diego CDs I currently own I probably would not have. So, keep racking your brains so you can deliver that Cricet, Damu, and 2 Mitchy Slick albums to us and still make your money.

^ couldnt say it better.

i have nothing against the gameplan but i hope its not a waste of gameplanning...especially since we all see the plan now.

i dont get how we as supporters can help
ill pay for my album, many others will, but there will be dling no matter what..i just hope technology dosent flip in the next few years to where theres no way you can make a profit..because where it stands now, SOMEONE will buy it.

but as technology continues, itouches, iphones, sooner or later youre gonna have less leeway in your say..it may get to the point where 'underground' music is just free, no matter what.

cuz on some real shit the people at labels who have money on the major label side of things dont give a fuck about the underground rappers and would rather yall be stomped out. why wouldnt they put money forward to remove yall?

good luck......but we all know its not in 'the peoples' favor..

One thing to think about is this...I heard that Nemo breaks off artists to do an album. IF this is the case it shouldnt matter what he does or doesn't do with the album cause the artists was paid up front.
Maybe the Siccness should sell some VIP memberships. Lets say a $100 membership and with that you can get exclusive shit. Maybe Two free releases and the ability to purchase more down the road. It would be up to the members to not share the music, if shit dont cause members are uploading and sharing then if ya sold 100 memberships thats $10,000 at least.
