You can't even take anything BEFORE the video as part of your argument if you're going to argue what we just saw in the video. Do you know if he was REALLY driving "all over curbs and lawns at speeds of 70mph"? There is no footage of that, only the word of the, not so trustworthy, police. The only 100% clear-cut facts are
A. This man was trying to elude police
b. This man was unarmed
C. Police fired a shitload of rounds into a residential area
these are the only 100% UNDENIABLE IRREFUTABLE facts. Now, the man did peel out and it did sound as tho he was looking to ram the police blockade. The officers should have approached the vehicle with weapons drawn while it was sitting there. Also, after he peeled out shots were fired and he was no longer accelerating. I don't know if it's because he was hit or because he was trying to avoid the gunfire; regardless the police should have stopped firing and approached the vehicle, in an effort to keep the man alive as well as to not further endanger the lives of the residents. Firing 120 rounds at a non-accelerating vehicle surrounded by houses is completely uncalled for.
I don't think anybody in this discussion is trying to defend the driver; however, we have some people trying to defend the actions of the police which were COMPLETELY irresponsible. Let's imagine that this event took place outside of your home. All you know is a man in a SUV peels out towards officer, shots are fired, the man stops accelerating, and 115 more rounds are fired into YOUR HOME. How is this going to make you feel?
