It was a joyous occasion. I mean, if i was in my Late 20's, it would have been embarassing and a joke, like a Grown Folks GED. But being early 20's, it was a good first step.
Sort of like the black lady who got her degree at like 68 years old? Life is learning, child. You are never to old to learn and everyday should be some type of learning experience.

How old was your mom when she was going to school?

wait hold up, are people bragging about getting their AA degree from a JC or CC? i aint knockin JC's, cuz i went to Delta, and i think you can get a good foundation to your education at a very cheap price then transfer to a 4-year, but getting your AA isnt really anything

I'm considering taking a class to learn Spanish, actually. For one, to learn a second language. I took some french but I don't remember any of it. And for two, because a lot of my clients have trouble with english and I want to be able to assist them better.

Then again, it probably takes many years to become fluent in a language if you're already in your early twenties when you take the classes.

I'm not as far along in college as I wanted to be, but I am working diligently towards graduating. I went to Fresno City College for a 1 year; I am currently enrolled at Modesto Junior College and have been for about 3 semesters. I am going to transfer to Stanislaus State when eligible.

To those who think having something as simple as an AA won’t get you further in life are sadly mistaken. It might not mean an extra digit in your salary, but it will earn you more money and help you to get a better job.

@nitro, yup, im all done, finished in december, and actually just got the paper yesterday from them saying that they reviewed everything and confirmed i was awarded my degree...as far as toughness, i feel i as if u have any sort of drive in you, and at least held around a 2.6-2.8, you can get it done....some classes are a lot tougher than others, and especially if u take the wrong teachers, teachers can easily make or break you in a class........if u got any more questions, hit me on the pm, ill break it down to you as much as possible

Sounds like a powerful plan.

And no, becoming fluent can take a while no matter who you are. Being 'fluent' isn't really the point, IMO. What matters is being able to function, to be able to help out, things like these. Most people aren't going to fault you for trying.

If it's skateboarding and you fall down, everyone laughs first, then helps. With languages, they help you out first, and then laugh their ass off later at the dumb shit you just said

Which reminds me, I need to update my resume

AA's really are the shit though. I transferred to University after I got mine, and I'm able to take any class I damn well please and not have to worry about Prereqs.

TADOU,
YOU STRESSED, "1st through 78th-wise, I don't really care what you have to say. I am learning 2 languages simultaneously. That is plenty. -- You shouldn't worry about when I start studying Swahili more, because you're not going to learn it anywayz."

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I KNOW OR CAPABLE OF KNOWIN' TO SPEAK UP ON IT.

THEN YOU STRESSED, "You're happy with 2 White Man languages, English and Spanish."

AND YOU? YOU THE ONE THAT WANTS TO LEARN FRENCH AND SPANISH OVER SWAHILI. YOU CAN'T BE NO HIPOCRITE. WHERE'S YOUR URgENCY YOU RUSHIN' OTHA FOLK TO DO? IF YU AIN'T TAKIN' ACTIONS, THEN YOUR WORDS ARE EMPTY.

THEN YOU STRESSED, "A Black Man's language would be too much for your mind."

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF. MY SLANg IS MY LANgUAgE.

THEN YOU STRESSED, "79th of all, It was a joke, friend. I just got back from Mexico studying 4th year grammar. I know what I am doing."

OBVIOUSLY NOT. I BELIEVE YOU WERE WHOLE HEARTEDLY SPEAKIN' HOW YOU SPEAK.

THEN YOU STRESSED, " As far as me getting fucked up, you must not understand how Mexico really is. You should go check it out, and not just gringo tourist cities either."

I KNOW MORE THAN YOU.

I don't think you do know more than I do about Mexico. What cities have you been to, sport? I went to Vallarta, Morelia, Manzanillo, lived in Guadalajara. And more than that. Si no has ido al altiplano, pues no has visto al verdadero Mexico. There is no getting around this.

I learn Spanish and French because I want to teach. There is no demand for Swahili teachers. Thats been my whole fuckin' point throughout this thread. Wake up and start paying attention.

A Black Man's language would be too much for your mind. Just the way it is. The White Man has you scared to learn our African mother languages, like Swahili or Wolof or Hausa. You've convinced yourself that speaking the bastardized and dirty English and other White Man languages is enough for you. It is a shame. You're not even out of your 30's, and already giving up.

Realistically just because you did a study abroad program in mexico does not mean you know anything about the country.
In fact if we apply you to the average college student studying abroad the odds are much better that you don't know shit about the country you were in and just take every given opportunity to posture with your dubious cultural “knowledge”.

Right now I'm at Central Washington University. I'm majoring in broadcast jounalism and minoring in advertising and sociology. I'll be done within a year but it's because the advertising minor was supposed to be moved out of the communications dept. and as a comm major you have to minor outside of the dept. hence my sociology minor.
