How much was that gun though? Dude probably paid like fucking $5,000 for that shit. People tend to leave that out. They make it seem like anybody having a bad day can walk in and buy an assault rifle and take people out. I couldn't even buy a case of .223 ammo that shits like $1.50 per bullet
You can by a used AR for like $800. A couple 30 round magazines out of an AR 15 would do some pretty severe damage and not be a financial issue with most people.

It 100% is a problem with how easy it is. There's multiple states in this country where it's like how I just talked about, where it takes literally no more than 15 minutes to buy an assault rifle. Those red flags might be easier to see if the process took longer than 15 minutes. The guy in this situation lives in Florida and purchased his firearms in Florida, which is just like here in Arizona, the process is damn near as simple as buying groceries. One of the reasons Florida is nicknamed "The Gunshine State" is because of how easy the process is there.

Throw in a waiting period and maybe those red flags might have been seen. At the very least a little bit of time for the FBI database to at least say "Need more information" or something of the like. But 15 fucking minutes? The shit is stupid.
It is not 15 minutes for everyone. I had to wait something like 1-2 months to legally purchase my first firearm. During that time, I was given the run around by the FBI and the ATF who both refused to own or answer why I was on hold, pointing the finger at each other. I drove to Phoenix FBI HQ where they put a tail on me in 30 seconds as I drove around trying to figure out where public parking was (does not exist). If it wasn't for the store believing in the 2nd Amendment, I would still be waiting. Later that year, I would get my CCW permit, and ever since, I have had no problems and no waiting period, as I shouldn't since I am a law abiding citizen with protections under the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, something I took an oath to. Enough of this circumvention nonsense to take my rights over the continued acts of a crazy and the failure of the US Government so a bunch of political aholes can place an abuse of power over me and my family.

So now you're saying the FBI's system works because they found flags and it worked on you? lol

Also lol @ the 2nd amendment, that argument as a reason why people should be able to buy assault rifles instantly is stupid as fuck. The 2nd amendment was created for people with muskets that took about 90 seconds to fire per round, not for people dumping 30 rounds in 3 seconds lol be smarter than that man. Look up the definition of the word "amendment", it means it can change. Laws in 2016 shouldn't reflect what was going on in the 1700's.

Under your 2nd amendment there was nothing wrong with Omar Mateen purchasing those guns, regardless if he was looked at by the FBI because he was charged with no crime by the FBI. He was an American citizen with a clean criminal record. 2nd amendment for the win!

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Notice the "well regulated". Heavier gun control can and will be coming, guaranteed. Fuck it, slap RFID chips on every single gun or some shit, if someone gets caught with a gun with no tracking on it make it a mandatory minimum 75 year prison sentence

It was created for people to have the means to protect themselves and their family, clearly they didnt give a shit about the weapon itself or they would have specified. There was early machine guns and repeaters available at that time and they weren't omitted.

Obviously it didn't work, I should have never been flagged, duh.
AZ passes out guns like candy on Halloween. If you couldn't buy a gun in this state, there's something wrong.

I don't really understand your story though. You say the FBI blocked you, but the store said fuck it and gave it to you anyway risking obvious serious repercussions and somehow the FBI had you blacklisted, but the state of Arizona still approved your CCW?

Obama said something like two weeks ago the current system is flawed and the current regulations cannot prevent an act of domestic terrorism in most cases. What happens? Current regulations couldn't prevent an act of domestic terrorism. We aren't well regulated, tougher regulations will come.
I agree with you. Answer this for me though, when has the US government provided an unflawed system? So more laws by them are going to fix things when they can't even uphold the laws they are supposed to already? Sounds like lawmakers taking advantage of people's emotional states.

I don't have the answers. To be honest the shit is so fucked it gives me a headache to even think about it. There's so many guns in this country and its obvious tighter gun controls do not work, because the people you don't want to have guns already have them / can get them easily; look at Chicago.

I choose to remain out of crowded public places, and to trust in the police, tbh.

Early machine guns in the 1700's weren't readily available to any household that wanted them lol why is that something you would even bring up?

and no the 2nd amendment wasn't created for people to "protect themselves". It was created as an anti-government tool in case the government wanted too much power so militias could form and fight back, because the Brits didn't allow their citizens to keep arms in case of revolt. The only way a militia could form is having your average citizen already armed.

I bring up the muskets because in 1776 the average person couldn't walk in to a Cabelas and buy assault rifles with 30 round magazines that could be dumped in the matter of seconds, a couple of hand guns on each hip, and a shotgun in case people get too close lol the happenings of the 1700's shouldn't be the basis for what goes on in 2016.

I know it doesn't make sense but it is the truth. The store ran the app, said I would have to wait. Called the store 2 weeks later, no change, they told me to talk to the FBI. Instead of calling, I went to HQ about two weeks later, was stopped by security guard who told me I had a tail. I explained why I was there, they blamed the ATF and would not let me in the building to discuss the issue and gave me an ATF phone number. I called the ATF, they blamed the FBI. I ended up eventually calling the store, and explained the entire thing, and they said come into the store. Mind you this store is 1 1/2 hours away, in another county. I came in told the story again, they went and grabbed the app I filled out and I noticed them put it in a different pile than where I had seen them place them before. Did the transaction and its history. Took the CCW class later that year and received my permit issued by AZDPS. Since then I have had it reissued, even though they are no longer required here, so I can carry in other states. I have never had an issue since, and guess what, I don't act irresponsible or insane either- its for protection. It's all there, won't repeat it again.

, tougher regulations will come.
That was my initial thought that will come out of this. The AR-15 by itself was already taking massive heat prior, lots of segments on TV I think I watched one by Jon Oliver like five days before this shooting, since it's been the gun of choice for many of the biggest domestic shootings. Maximum damage, maximum efficiency. But obviously it's not just the AR it just happens to be one of the most popular and easiest to single out.

Whatever the case obviously the current system is massively flawed. The fact he was investigated twice by the FBI and has disturbing history shows that alone. The tricky part is how do you implement a fair system? He wasn't charged with anything during those FBI investigations so, what can they do? How do you prevent a potential shooter from buying guns legally if they haven't committed any crimes yet?

I don't think guns like this should be available for citizens. Or at least you need to go through some serious shit, various background checks, certifications, long ass waiting period, etc etc
