all you do is talk shit on here about pointless ass shit. Like I said gamboa is one of my favorite fighters. What you quoted was not blaming floyd for the fallout of the fight but you're too damn stupid to see that.
Actually you're the dumb ass 206. Keep on posting in circles. But when you find out that Gamboa's contract issue is just like I broke it down for you, please don't act like you wasn't hating on me for posting my breakdown, or 6 months down the line use MY same breakdown to act like you know what you're talking about like in the Bradley case.

You are literally arguing with me about nothing. Go back, read the thread and see exactly what I typed. All of us know Gamboa is unhappy about his contract(s). All I said was the 5 year extension was based on rumor and hasn't been confirmed.

Bob Arum tells me that they are going ahead with Brandon Rios-Richie Abril, basically with or without HBO..... #boxing

Steve Kim ‏ E @Eksel Media maxboxing
Arum says on Rios-Abril,"We'll announce in a day or so how it will be distributed." Does this mean Latin Fury? #boxing

Steve Kim ‏ E @Eksel Media maxboxing
HBO and Top Rank were between a rock and a hard place. They couldn't agree on a replacement for Rios... #boxing

Steve Kim ‏ E @Eksel Media maxboxing
and Top Rank had their ideas on who they wanted, HBO on who they would accept. Top Rank, unlike TV packagers isn't beholden to them..#boxing

Steve Kim ‏ E @Eksel Media maxboxing
and HBO believed that they wanted a certain caliber of guy for Rios, wasn't high on Abril. Neither side budged. It is, what it is #boxing

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a deal was reached for WBA interim-lightweight champion Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs) to face Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22KOs) on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Rios and Abril were involved in a minor altercation at a press conference last week in Miami.

Rios was intially scheduled to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa, who was moving up by two weight divisions to make the match. However, Gamboa no-showed last week's press conferences in Miami and Los Angeles - and he refused to move forward with the fight, citing differences with his promoters Top Rank and Ahmet Oner.

HBO was scheduled to televise Rios-Gamboa, but the network took a pass on Rios-Abril. Top Rank is currently working on a television deal. Junior welterweight Mike Alvarado will still collide with Mauricio Herrera in the co-feature.

Meanwhile, Top Rank has officially filed a federal lawsuit against Gamboa to recover damages. Among other things, Top Rank claims Gamboa not only agreed to take the Rios fight - he was forwarded an advance on the money [Gamboa allegedly accepted a $70,000 advance]. Gamboa also cost Top Rank thousands of dollars when he allegedly requested the scheduling of a press conference in his hometown of Miami, which he no-showed.

Between the time he accepted the deal on February 16th, and the time he made a decision to withdraw - Top Rank is claiming that a rival promoter [or promoters, indivdiuals outside of Top Rank] spoke to Gamboa and persuaded the Cuban boxer to withdraw from the Rios contest. The alleged culprits have not been named in the legal documents.

Top Rank vs. Gamboa: The Specific Points of The Lawsuit

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=50624#ixzz1p9TdRIJE

By Rick Reeno

As BoxingScene.com reported earlier today , Top Rank officially filed a federal lawsuit in the state of Nevada against Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs). The promotional company is seeking to recover damages due to an alleged "breach of contract" by Gamboa.

Gamboa, moving up by two weight divisions, was scheduled to fight Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22KOs) on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

However, Gamboa no-showed last week's press conferences in Miami and Los Angeles - and he refused to move forward with the fight, citing differences with his promoters Top Rank and Ahmet Oner of Arena Box. As a result, Rios will now face WBA interim-lightweight champion Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs).

HBO was scheduled to televise Rios-Gamboa, but the network took a pass on Rios-Abril. Top Rank is currently working on a television deal. Junior welterweight Mike Alvarado will still collide with Mauricio Herrera in the co-feature.

BoxingScene has obtained a full copy of Top Rank's lawsuit, courtesy of boxing attorney Scott Shaffer. We outline the fine points of Top Rank's case against Gamboa. Certain points are full copies of Top Rank's claims, while other points are BoxingScene's shortened versions of the claims.

1. "However, upon information, Top Rank believes one or more rival boxing promotion companies and unknown individuals associated with them are at the root of Gamboa's wrongful conduct. These 'poachers' see what everyone sees -- a gifted boxer platformed by Top Rank for superstardom-- and they want to unfairly capitalize on what Top Rank orchestrated and built. Upon information and belief, the rival promoters and others promised Gamboa that if he breaches his contract with Top Rank, they will promote his fights."

2. "Gamboa signed with Ahmet Oner of Arena Box in February 2008. In June 2009, Top Rank and Arena reached an agreement to co-promote Gamboa, who contemporaneously executed a written attestation consenting to, ratifying and confirming the execution of the aforementioned between Top Rank and Arena and agreeing to be bound by all the terms and conditions thereof irrespective of any prior agreements with Arena."

3. "In February 2012, Top Rank and Gamboa reached an agreement for a fight with Brandon Rios on April 14, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas."

4. "Top Rank and Arena satisfied Gamboa's request to receive "four times" his contractually guaranteed minimum [for the fight with Rios]. "

5. "On or about February 16th, 2012 - Gamboa and Top Rank agreed to all material terms of a contract to fight Rios - including date, opponent, travel arrangements, purses and advances."

6. "After agreeing to fight Rios, Gamboa requested, received and accepted in excess of $70,000 in advances from Top Rank and Arena in anticipation of the Rios bout."

7. "After reaching an agreement, Top Rank negotiated into a contract with the Mandalay Bay, entered and negotiated a contract with HBO, negotiated and entered into contracts with multiple international television broadcasters, entered into contracts with sponsors, entered into a contact with Rios, made financial and other commitments to undercard fighters, prepared and publicized tickets for the event, and sold thousands of tickets."

8 . "In comfirming his agreement to fight Rios, Gamboa specifically requested a press conference to be hosted in his hometown of Miami, Florida to promote the event. Top Rank and Arena agreed to arrange the press conference on March 5th, 2012, including securing an appearance by Mayor Carlos Gimenez. Top Rank and Arena spent thousands of dollars on travel and other arrangements to honor Gamboa's request."

9. Up until March 5, 2012 - no objections were received from Gamboa.

10. "Without warning, Gamboa failed to attend the Miami press conference on March 5, 2012 and his March 6, 2012 press conference in Los Angeles."

11. On March 5, 2012, Gamboa informed Top Rank that he had "no desire" to fight Rios on April 14th and "no longer wishes to be promoted by Top Rank or Arena."

12. On March 12, 2012, Gamboa repeated - this time in even more stark and unequivocal terms - that he "will not be fighting Brandon Rios on April 14, 2012" The fight, he wrote, "is simply not going to happen." Gamboa added that he "wishes to sever all ties with Top Rank."

13 . "Gamboa's unexpected repudiation of his agreement to fight on April 14 jeopardizes millions of dollars in contracts involving broadcasters, venues, other boxers, sponsors and many others."

Not good for Gamboa. Even if he has proof he never signed a contract it's going to take awhile for the courts to figure this mess out he's probably done for the year unless he can settle out of court.

But its stupid top rank doesn't make marquez vs rios. Marquez suddenly doesn't have an opponent for April and same with rios. Makes too much sense. I guess jmm probably just wants a stay busy fight.

^ good point hbo would be all over that but that's a huge huge fight I think everyone involved would want more time to promote a fight that big...
it should happen. Looks like Marquez is now fighting Ukrainian Sergey Fedchenko. I'll need naner to provide a background check on this guy lol. I don't believe he's ever fought outside of the Ukraine & Germany.

As BoxingScene.com reported on Wednesday, a new opponent was being pursued for Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39 KOs), after Argentine boxer Cesar Cuenca (42-0, 1KO) fell out. The new opponent for Marquez is Ukrainian Sergey Fedchenko (30-1, 13KOs). Marquez's trainer, Nacho Beristain, confirmed the information to BoxingScene. The fight takes place for the vacant WBO interim-140-pound title on April 14th at the new arena in Mexico City.

and unfortunately for gamboa I think top rank has a case about the outside promoters talking to him.

Roger Mayweather was quoted saying this Feb 15th:

“He was with my nephew,” Roger said of Gamboa. “He signed with my nephew. My nephew is going to promote him I guess. All I know is that he said he’s with my nephew.”

I guess he's a better fight than Cuenca. His best win is against Blain (unless you count a win over Corley as anything these days), who can't punch a bit himself, and he was beaten pretty clean against Mabuza. I've seen a few of his fights and he has decent technique but like a lot of Russian-type fighters he doesn't move his feet much and is a basic 1-2 fighter if that makes sense, I don't see Marquez losing here at all.

I also don't mind Fedchenko getting a vacant title fight against Marquez. He has some garbage WBO belt and he's at least coming in ranked in their organization instead of having a made up ranking.

just read the last couple pages. Rios is still fighting on the 14th, against a lessor cuban, as well as marquez on the same card, against a Ukrainian. what's worse is its on PPV, as hbo obviously didn't want to dish out millions for a couple of tune up fights. streaming this one.

Brandon Rios Weighs In, Two Pounds Over The Limit

boxingscene.com

Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - The weights are in for Saturday night's HBO pay-per-view. In a battle for the vacant WBA lightweight championship, interim beltholder Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs) came in at 135-pounds. Former champion Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22KOs) weighed in at 137, two-pounds over the lightweight limit. Rios struggled to make weight for his last fight in December against John Murray and initially planned to move up to 140 before agreeing to this fight.

No official decision, at least not yet, on whether Rios is going to sweat off the weight to make 135, or if a deal will be reached with Abril to move forward with Rios at 137.

Rios came back an hour later and weighed in at 137 for a second time, which appears to be his final weight.

In a junior welterweight bout, Mike Alvarado (32-0, 23KOs) and Mauricio Herrera (18-1, 7KOs) both came in at 140-pounds.

Undefeated lightweight contender Mercito Gesta (24-0-1, 12KOs) weighed 137-pounds, while Oscer Cuero (15-7, 12KOs) came in at 138-pounds.

Lol. Margarito 2.0 didn't make weight again. I can't wait until dude moves up to 140lb, so we can see if dude and hang with guys his on weight.
