some fighters can get away with it. Joan Guzman for example (never been knocked down or even stunned). But he doesn't have the high work rate that Gamboa does, which leaves Gamboa more open to get countered by big shots. So as long as Gamboa is going to throw 70+ punches per round, he really needs to keep his hands up.

I'd like to see Gamboa with either of these guys:

I think they'd be perfect to help him with his defense. only problem though is I don't know if Gamboa speaks english so the language barrier could be a problem.
I would love for him to hook up with the maywethers myself but he wouldn't go wrong with emanul steward either

I don't know if he's the right type of fighter for Steward. He seems to like guys that use their jab a lot. Also, Steward is too widespread. He'll train Gamboa for a fight then leave afterwords to commentate on HBO and train other fighters.

Also , he's not like how he used to be when he would train fighters from the very beginning. At this point of his life, he seems more interested in training guys that are already well established (Klitschko, Taylor are examples).

I missed most of it but I did see the Gamboa fight. He still has that amateur fighting style that he needs to shake off. Not sure if they are gonna show it again so I could catch the previous 2 fights, hopefully they put it on OnDemand in the days to come. By the sound of things it was a great night of fights on Saturday....
