If the roles were exactly switched and Chavez landed that many shots on Zbik it would have been a land slide on the cards. At least the judges kept it close though.

Chavez is no where near ready for Martinez.
No way in hell Arum allows that to happen.

if chavez was a pillow puncher and zbik was landing the harder shots? I don't know about that.

No way bob arum has him fight Martinez that would be suicide. He wants him to fight Cotto who would move up in weight and I would favor cotto to win. Chavez's days are limited.

I don't really take harder shots into consideration if they don't do any damage. It's one thing if they take a knee, get knocked down, have a busted face, etc. but Zbik took those shots in each round.

Johnson landed the harder shots on Froch tonight, but the judges didn't care. Froch was busier, landed more shots, etc.

and it was close with the johnson fight up till the later rounds when glen slowed down tremendously, I thought froch won clearly.

i thought zbik was hurt several times in the fight, though, especially from the body shots, froch I don't think was ever hurt maybe once early he got stunned but he ate everything after that and not only that but every time glen landed a solid single shot froch followed up with a big flurry.

I saw Zbik hurt maybe twice but not badly. You can't assume someone's hitting harder if they aren't showing effects of being hit hard. It's not realistic to say that because Zbik isn't a power puncher that his punches shouldn't count as much especially in the rounds where Zbik was not phased by any punches and cleanly out landed Chavez. That's just ridiculous IMO.

Zbik fought well, landed plenty of clean shots on Chavez and cleanly out punched him in several rounds.

ur not getting my point. he said if the tables were turned chavez would have got the decision I'm saying that isn't necessarily true. zbik outlanded chavez but that doesn't automatically win a round. there were plenty of close rounds i thought it could have gone either way

Zbik won that fight period, he simply outworked and landed Chavez. Froch and Glen was a good fight. I had Froch winning by one round. A good night of boxing.

As much as I don't care for Froch, I had him winning 116-112 and I had Zbik beating Chavez 115-113. I can't wait to see whats next for Mikey Garcia though.

Chavez is young and hasn't had someone like Roch in his corner for long. Roch will teach him how to box. He will get beat but he will not go far. Ima fan of anyone who will go in the ring, stand head to head, with their opponent and swing away. That is brilliant.

Anyone see the fight before? That was a NICE fight!

^^Garcia is a beast! He could end up being the best in his division (better than Lopez and MAYBE even Gamboa) but he needs a few more fights.
Now you're just being ridiculous.

.. and landing more punches doesn't automatically win you the round but we you out land your opponent that much in certain rounds (and they were clean punches at that) and the other guys, even though he might be throwing harder, doesn't phase you at all you win the round.

I thought Zbik did plenty to win the round and I agree if the roles were revered and Chavez was the champ and landed the same amounts of punches Zbik did and vice versa there's no doubt in my mind they'd give Chavez a wide decision. I don't think it was a robbery but I disagree with the decision..

not now, in a year or two. I would always favor gamboa over anyone, you know that, but garcia IS very good and his potential is great.

And yes, those are the rounds zbik won. There were other rounds when his punches weren't doing shit or were too far and in between and chavez's pure effective aggressiveness was winning him rounds.

zbik fucked up by fighting chavez toe to toe in the later rounds and fighting julio's fight. if he kept doing what he was doing he would have pulled it off.

I really don't know why I'm even arguing I don't even like chavez and I think he's going to lose to Cotto (which is almost a done deal for October) or anyone else that is decent but I'm stating how I saw the fight. Close fight could have gone either way.
