no shit! they said he weighs 181 pounds that's alot of weight to regain in 24 hrs
Yeah I don't put much stock into that though. These "tall for the division" style fighters usually gain more weight after the weigh-ins than than other guys. Paul Williams used to come in as a middleweight when he fought at welter. I think him struggling to get down to the weight plus the other stupid shit surrounding him is going to be more of a problem.

It'd be good to see a guy like Rubio make it though. Not that long ago he won a garbage fight on a PPV against Ornelas to be a easy night for Pavlik and now he has a chance to be one of the top guys at MW.

It's technically not illegal in the United States it's just not part of the rules. It's the WBC rules and in the states a commission can choose to not accept them, Texas seems to either not care and let them do it or they like the concept of open scoring. I just don't see much benefit from it. I've seen guys quit on the stool after the 8th rounds when scores have been announced and it was basically hopeless for them to win without concussing the other guy.

So Chavez escapes arena without giving urine for test after the fight! Hmmmm wonder why? Got Em!!
that would rest entirely on the WBC.

The Texas athletics department does not require drug testing, but will drug test if the boxing organization requires it. For example when Pacquiao fought Margarito & Clottey, the drug testing was issued by the WBO/WBC.

As for this Chavez fight, apparently the Texas athletics department is saying they never had any instructions for any drug testing, which again would've had to have come from the WBC, thus no drug testing as administered.

The WBC is basically saying that it was up to Texas, but that's not the case. Further, the WBC's own rules state there has to be drug testing in all championship bouts, so it's interesting that they failed to do so. What's also interesting is they never had a 30 day weigh in prior to the fight with Chavez & Rubio, as they usually do.

My guess is the WBC is protecting Chavez. Remember, he was busted for a diuretic before and was briefly suspended (long before he teamed up with Roach). Being that he struggled to make weight and that he rehydrated to 181 pounds in 24 hours, I wouldn't doubt that he used a diuretic again to make weight and the WBC turned a blind eye, because well he is their Mexican star along with Canelo.

This is the problem when there is no over seeing body that enforces rules/regulations over all of the boxing organizations like the WBC. The WBC went against their own rules and broke them, but hey there are no consequences since they are the ones that make the rules!

So in short - fuck the crooked ass WBC.

I'm pumped for the Tavoris Cloud-Campillo fight.

IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud on conference call today: "People respect KO's more than they respect decisions. I'm extreme. I don't give a damn about how hard they train, the sacrifices they make - I feel like I train harder - my trainer is better - it's like I'm defending my house and I still have THIEVES trying to break in!"

Campillo's record is deceiving. The guy should realistically be 24-1 both fights against Murat were bad decisions and the loss to Shumenov is really one of the worst decisions in recent memory, up there with Lara/Williams without all the outrage. Add in that Mack gave Cloud some trouble and he's nowhere near as good a boxer as Campillo.

he beat the shit out Shumenov, the second fight was one of the worst decisions I've seen in my life.

Cloud will have his hands full. Lateral movement gives him problems. But this is a classic match between a come forward power guy versus a boxer who uses his feet. I'm pumped

Paul Williams is so fun to watch, I hope he worked on his defense but we all know he didn't. Cloud is a beast so you know I want to see him fight. Big nipples have been coming to fight in shape. It should be some good action fights.
